  • Excerpt: Like Speedo’s Aquabeat, the snappily named Sony NWZ-W273 Walkman packs in 4GB of storage for all your tunes, and wraps around the back of your head for ease of use and comfort. It’s completely waterproof up to a depth of two metres as well, so unless you’re planning on a spot of cliff diving and really can’t bear to be apart from your playlists for a few seconds, it’s got you covered. See what one swimming champion makes of it in the clip above.

The NWZ-W273 is a Walkman designed for active people, and we tested it for a period while jogging. Not to get too much ahead of ourselves, but we're quite positive about Sony's latest compact and waterproof music player.

  • Conclusion: As a solo device, there aren't really many negatives to put you off. If, on the other hand, you are someone who uses a running app on your phone while you run, or you're already carrying an MP3 player with you then, for extra cash, it doesn't seem worth the hassle. We would recommend getting a pair of Bluetooth headphones to let you ditch the wires between your music and your ears.
  • Pros: Waterproof to 2m, light, sound good
  • Cons: Don't work with your phone, if you use a running app won't work with that either
