Sony Walkman NWZ-S718F Review

LAPTOP Magazine
29 May 2008
  • Summary: This is primarily a music player, and as such, it's the best-sounding flash-based model we've heard. It trumps the mighty iPod nano in sound quality, features, and battery life. Also, it works with both Macs and PCs via drag-and-drop and has useful extras, including an FM tuner, noise cancellation, and excellent earbuds. Unless you're wedded to iTunes, we highly recommend this Walkman.
  • Pros: Superb sound quality, Works with Macs and PCs, Noise cancellation is built into the player, Excellent included earbuds
  • Cons: Noise cancellation works only with included headphones, Video-conversion software costs extra

Sony Walkman NWZ-S718F

PC Magazine

  • Conclusion: The NWZ-S718F offers fairly effective built-in noise reduction, and although the user interface is a bit drab and file support could be improved, it's a better-than-average PMP.
  • Pros: Compact design. Screen is sharp and bright. Excellent sound quality. Built-in noise cancellation. Customizable EQ. Earphones are better than the bundled earbuds of most players.
  • Cons: User interface is dull. Cluttered with buttons. Mediocre video file support. Noise reduction works only with the included earphones.
