Test: Sony Walkman A845 (NWZ-A845B 16GB)

prylblogg.com
6 December 2013

Sony Walkman NWZ-A845 – iPod-Beating Sound Quality

etechreviews.net
6 August 2011
  • Excerpt: “Walkman” has been the unanimous name for the tape-players, even though many of them weren’t actually made by Sony, and then came the MP3 Players like iPod and others, and now every MP3 players is called “iPod”, just like the “Walkman”. It’s been a long time since the evolution of Walkman, but Sony still manufactures MP3 players under their Walkman brand. The latest Walkman offering from the company is the Walkman NWZ-A845.

  • Conclusion: Here we are with the conclusion to my review of the Sony NWZ-A845 and it’s that time again when I give my opinions on the device and then hopefully they will help you decide if this is the media player for you or not? Overall I did enjoy my time with this device, but it did take a while to grow on me because of the little teething problems that I encountered whilst using the product; but in the end I do love it and if the price was right I would consider replacing my...

Sony NWZ-A845

What Hi-Fi?
22 March 2011
  • Excerpt: When we first  sampled this Sony we knew it was up for a scrap with the iPod nano . “For the first time in years the little Apple has a genuine rival,” we said. And it really is a worthy rival: our review sample came with a list of ways that the company believes its Walkman trumps the iPod.
  • Pros: Stylish design, big screen, easy to populate with content, open, weighty sound
  • Cons: Not as musical as the best, disappointing headphones

Sony's latest iPod Nano competitor has a great OLED screen, but a mediocre interface

Good Gear Guide.au
8 March 2011
  • Summary: The Sony A Series Walkman (NWZ-A845) MP3 player competes with the Apple iPod Nano, offering one of the best screens we've seen on a small portable media player and some nifty features to boost audio quality. It is hamstrung by an unspectacular interface and a high price tag.
  • Pros: Bright OLED screen with good contrast, inbuilt noise cancellation when used with compatible headphones
  • Cons: Mediocre interface and controls, $100 more expensive than an iPod Nano

Being highly personal one can store all his favorites for anytime use. The upgraded models are high in performance and great by looks. This model is new to the series and has taken a place in the best selling category.

Sony NWZ-A845 Walkman review

Pocket Lint
15 October 2010
  • Excerpt: Sony's current range of Walkman MP3 players caters for everyone, from true music buffs to kids and karaoke fans (you can read our review of the Karaoke-equipped NWZ-E453 here ). The NWZ-A845 is Sony's flagship model and is also the Japanese technology giant's thinnest Walkman yet. Equipped with a large 2.8-inch OLED screen, the gadget has 16GB of memory along with EX noise cancelling headphones and a full S-Master digital amplifier.
  • Pros: Slim design, quality screen, noise cancelling technology, excellent audio
  • Cons: No separate power adaptor, only 16GB of memory

Sony Walkman NWZ-A845

TechRadar UK
20 May 2010
  • Excerpt: You can put Apple's ownership of the portable music market down to two things: Steve Jobs' marketing nous and (iPod designer) Jonny Ive's understanding that most people value convenience and gadgetry above audio quality. So it's easy to believe that Apple doesn't give much thought to fidelity.

Sony NWZ-A845 review

Stuff.tv
19 April 2010
  • Summary: Despite the endless tricks of some more recent media players, Sony’s NWZ-A845 shows that less can still be more. Not that it’s over simplified, but it sticks to its job without bothering you with half-baked attempts at aping a smartphone. So it won’t play Angry Birds, won’t surf the web and won’t give you updates from Twitter or Facebook.
