Sony Walkman NWZ-A729 (16GB, black) - They don't make them like they used to!

Winyard Productions "Winyard Productions", Amazon
1 July 2011
  • Summary: This MP-3 player is one of the best ever made and where it shines is in the sound, your iPOD's don't give you the sound like these Sony's do. This is what's important 'THE SOUND'. I really wish Sony would bring these MP-3 players back into production, but alas. Anyway, there are also Bluetoth models out there to be had! It's the drag and drop ease of use and the large screen and strong build that makes these MP-3 players a top pick!

the greatest mp3 player...ever. yes, even more so than ipod

Amazon Customer, Amazon
29 August 2009
  • Summary: Well, I was (and still am I guess) an IPOD fan and owned an 80 gb IPOD classic. I loved it to death for the two years I had it but it was recently stolen from me. I simply couldn't afford another IPOD of that size (it was an xmas present so I never spent a cent the first time around) so I started looking at the smaller IPODS or alternatives. I went with the sansa fuze (not a bad player but I had some issues with it.

Outstanding Sound, 4.5 Stars for Lacking Features

Nu Mantra, Amazon
11 May 2009
  • Summary: I got the 16gb version of this player today from Ebay (perfect condition, no headphnes) for for about 30% of the cost here. I own several mp4 and mp3 players all with great sound including less famous brands coming out of China. The sound on this SONY is outstanding, but when you consider all of the other features to be found on players like the Samsung Q1 (or even the gorgeous touch screen P2 these days) for more than $100.00 less, I can not justify recommending this...

Sony's Highly Regarded MP3 Player

John Nagy, Amazon
15 April 2009
  • Summary: The Sony 16-Gig Walkman Stereo MP3 Player is truly a super product. The device holds lots of music and the ear buds that come with it have high quality sound. So the whole unit gives superior output as well as having decent capacity - e.g. holds up to 4000 music files. Unless you are waiting for the newer touch-screen MP3's or perhaps, a little more storage capacity, this device could be an exceptional option. I use it almost daily as part of my exercise routine.

Sony Walkman 16GB

M. Parker, Amazon
7 April 2009
  • Summary: Great MP3. Wanted something simple to use and to download tons of CDs. All the gadgets needed were easily obtained to make it an even better experience. Am amazed at how much material this player holds, easy to use controls, very nice playback. Recommend this player to anyone not wanting an ipod.

IT DOES NOT GET NAY BETTER THEN THIS!!!!

William Webster "disgusted", Amazon
31 December 2008
  • Summary: OK! First and formost for me. I had no problems drop and dragging folders from my PC to this unit. Get this! My folders showed up as one of the choices in the menu besides artist, album, etc....The sound! Well! The earbuds that come with the unit are very good. However, I have a pair of new high end earbuds from Shures (Shure 530) and Westone (OM3). Personally, I enjoy the Westone 3's.

Sony NWZ-A729 Awesome MP3 Player!

Wayne A. Childress "www.bugfisher.com", Amazon
24 December 2008
  • Summary: First of all, I want an MP3 player to play music and do it well. Anything else, (video, pictures, etc) is a bonus. This player is absolutely the audiophile's MP3 player. The audio is simply the best. I've owned or have used many of the other brands (Sansa, iPod, Zune, etc), and none compare to the Sony Walkman. Some of the audio features, like the customizable equalizer, Dynamic Normalizer, Clear Stereo, VPT, and DSEE give the listener control over the audio.

Good but Not Great: Key Features Missing

Boris, Amazon
12 December 2008
  • Summary: I bought this sony player to replace a cowon that I loved but that went out of production. Hardware: The overall quality of the construction seems pretty good. The major flaw is that the screen is plastic and scratches really easily. I don't get what Sony is thinking here, either use a harder plastic, put a scratch resistant coating or just use glass (probably the best option in terms of durability and clarity).

better interface than Ipod!

Joe G. Salinas, Amazon
19 November 2008
  • Summary: I had a 80GB Ipod and returned after a week. I had previously own a Sony and found it to have a friendlier interface so I returned the Ipod and purchased this 16GB Sony. It has a higher quality of sound. The battery life exceeds the Ipod. The earbuds are 10x better than the Ipod's. The Sony's disadvantages are the price per GB and the volume doesn't go nearly as loud as other players I've heard. In the end, I don't think I'll ever buy anything else but a Sony.

Great player!!

joejimbob, Amazon
9 November 2008
  • Summary: I previously owned a 4gb Sony player, but found I needed more space. I really liked the 4gb, and decided to go with the 16gb. What a great player!! The sound that comes out of this player is exceptional, the earbuds don't fall out, and you have a lot of choices in customizing your music. The battery life is good as well. If you want a player that is easy to use, has GREAT sound, and long battery life don't look any further.
