One of my top MP3 players. It is such an easy to use MP3 player that I'm going to get another one. No need to fumble with USB cords to upload music. Just plug into your computer and upload music. Also very sleek and ergonomic. Read more

SonicStage is terrible and you have to use it. Bottons are on all sides so you can't get to them all if you buy the optional case to strap to you arm. Buy the iPod Shuffle instead if you don't need an FM tuner. Read more

compared to the previous generation of sony walkman products this spiffy looking little unit simply does not measure up. Everything must be transferred using Sony's proprietary sonicstage software, which is reason enough to give this unit a pass. The one colour display, the counter-intuitive placement of the buttons, and the absence of a voice recorder (previously available) make this walkman very, very unsatisfactory. Read more

The Sony NW-E005 is a true featherweight — almost literally. The Sony NW-E005 weighs in at less than one ounce … one ounce … making it one of the lightest weighing media players on the market today. In other words, the Sony NW-E005 truly is perfect for traveling, the daily commute or for time out in the gym or at the fitness center. The Sony NW-E005 can store over 1,300 of a listener’s most favored tracks. The Sony NW-E005 has features that permit the uploading of music and tracks from a variety of sources onto the Sony NW-E005. (As a nice aside, the Sony NW-E005 can fit into your PC’s USB port very easily. You don’t need cords or cables.)

Navigation on the Sony NW-E005 surprisingly is easy given its small size. One would expect navigation to be an issue … but, it really is not. In addition, the built in FM tuner in the Sony NW-E005 delivers crisp audio, very little distortion and no real drift from station to station which can be a problem at times with some media players that include FM tuners. The Sony NW-E005 really does perform as well as the industry leaders in regard to its FM tuner reception and audio quality.

The Sony NW-E005 also gives you the technology to burn your own CDS, which is a welcome feature for many music aficionados. Finally, the Sony NW-E005 comes complete with a powerful batter that can provide up to twenty-eight hours of uninterrupted listening enjoyment on one full charge. Overall, when all is said and done, the Sony NW-E005 is a good, basic media player. It is good for a person who has little experience with media players. However, it is also a good choice for a person who is interested in a bit more advanced functionality in a media player.
