Summary: I've had this player in my car for over four years and it still works great. The play / stop, volume, and << / >> controls are easy to operate with one hand while driving. It gets four stars because the Sonic Stage software is EXTREMELY annoying. You can put MP3 and other files directly onto the USB disk, but the player doesn't recognize them unless you use Sonic Stage.
Great unit, software sucks but there's a workaround

Summary: I purchased this unit a few years ago and have been using it ever since. I'm surprised Sony hasn't updated their software given all these bad reviews, but I'd like to mention my solution..... [...] This software lets you put mp3's on the unit easily in ANY operating system. Best of all the 'software' to do it is stored on the unit itself! Just plug the unit into ANY computer and run the software right off of it. Very easy and painless.
Summary: I bought this mp3 player from Circuit City for $40.00. I love it! Using the ATRAC format, I can get well over 200 songs on the player. The ATRAC format quality sounds great (i.e. I can not tell any difference in the quality between mp3, wav, and the ATRAC formats). The software takes a little practice. The biggest problem I have had with the software is grouping a group's different albums under one title.
Summary: Having used this player for a few days, I'm a bit mystified over the negative comments regarding the software...it's neither daunting or difficult to quickly transfer mp3 files to the Sony. I did immediately download/install the latest version of the Sonic software, which is 4.3 as of the writing...perhaps that's the reason why no difficulty was experienced, I honestly don't know. That having been said, I'm pleased with the NW-E003.
Summary: I have 3 of these great little machines. They are very small and sound great. It took many tries to get the software to work the 1st time. It actually shut down my computer & it took days of trouble shooting to get it to work. Everything is running smoothly now. My kids 10 & 8 and I love it. Very Quick charge up. Do not upgrade to the sonic 4.3 or whatever it is. It will mess up your computer & the original program will not work. Shop around for the best price.
Summary: This mp3 has a good sound and design. The quality of the product is perfact with a sealed package. Also, shipping was pretty fast. There are some cons, such as the program is quite difficalt to use and is limited.
Summary: Bought this little cool MP3 player yesterday. It is a fun little toy, filled with features. The LCD is simply beautiful. Battery was fully charged in 30 mins. Installed the software and it's importing music files into it's library automatically from my hard drive. Plugs in the player and it transfered songs in automatically too. Then it stopped after transfered 40 songs. Well, now I have no idea how to transfer more songs as it isn't user friendly at all.
Summary: I purchased this player for my 13 year old for Christmas 2006. She nor I had previous experience with MP3 players. I read many reviews on this product, both on Amazon and other websites. A nice sale and rebate sold me on this versus an iPod. I was anxious because some reviews I've read made it seem Sony had some license restrictions on their mp3 players that limited the type of music that could be ripped.
A genuine love from me, perfect little piece of technology for me!

Excerpt: I got this mp3 player off a friend of mine fairly recently when my Ipod broke. My first thought was, there's not a lot of space and quite frankly it's lame. But like most people I prefer to walk around with music blaring in my ears ignoring the world around me and destroying my ear drums. So I accepted what I was given and moved on. I uploaded as much music as the mp3 player would allow and set off on my way, the first thing I noticed was how fabulously loud it was!!
Recommended for those who don't need big memory, just a small reliable MP3 player

Excerpt: I have had my little Sony Walkman NW-E003 almost two years now and it serves me in good stead. As I mainly use it for the short commute to and from work and driving around town, it serves me as well as I have an adaptor for the cassette tape deck in my old Honda Accord. That way when the sat nav/cd player thieves in my neck of the woods peep in to the front of my car, all they see is the prehistoric cassette deck and swiftly move on.
