Summary: I bought this for my handicapped son. It did not work at all. I still have it. He is in the hospital was in ICU now in Neurosciences Unit and I did not have time to return it. I paid Computer Repair Services $200.00 to fix it still didn't work. So I have it just have no time to return as my son is extremely sick with no music to listen to as I can't afford anything else at this time. Thank you for your interest.
Summary: First of all, I would like to say that the Slacker Portable Radio might be a perfectly good product...if you bought it two years ago. As I tried to set the radio up, I found that I could connect to the internet, but I could not connect to my account in order to update the device. After several frustrating attempts, I contacted customer service and was told that the service had been discontinued.
Summary: The idea of this product is awesome. When the device decides to work it is great! However, the device does not work over 70 percent of the time. What I mean by this is that I can not get it to turn on or that it freezes...However, when it does work it is awesome. However, because I can never really depend on it working I rated it one star.....If it worked all the time when I needed it- I would have rated it 5 stars.....
Summary: The Slacker G1 unit is horrible. I restored the unit to default settings and try to load my stations and it doesnt work. I tried updating firmware and that doesnt work either. The unti will not load my stations through wired or wi-fi connection. Do yourself a favor and buy the G2 unit whichworks like a charm.
Summary: I am an avid slacker listener online. I even pay for the premium service for unlimited song skips. When I got this radio, I was so disappointed. You can not have custom stations, you can only skip 5 songs, and the refresh your stations takes hours of being connected to a wireless. The touch screen does not work and it is so big that it's hard to carry around in a pocket.
Summary: I bought the G1 & G2. I wanted to use the G2 at the gym since it is smaller and the G1 at home mostly. Both failed me. The G2 'failed' in enough time so I was able to send back and get a full refund from Amazon. The G1 worked but recently has been useless for the reasons people stated: 1) Very slow key reponse. 2) When it connects to WIFI it doesn't refresh all the stations.
Summary: Great concept, FAIL-ed product. Bought this with high hopes, which were quickly smashed to bits. After 2 weeks of good use, it went into the classic Slacker death-spiral. No firmware or debugging has helped, it just keeps getting worse every day. Search the web before buying, this thing is a huge lemon; Slacker has mover on to the "Second Generation" unit, the "G2 Player", and now this piece of junk is selling at 1/3 of list price.
Summary: I purchased the G1 a few weeks ago and haven't been able to get it to sync 100% yet. The device is infested with bugs, crashes at random, will not sync either wirelessly or via USB and has terribly slow response to keypresses. I don't want to fumble with a music player. I expect to turn it on, plug in my headphones, hit play and be done. The G1 *can not* deliver this simple task. I strongly emphasise that this product fails the basic law of merchantability.
