Summary: I had my mom buy this for our nearly 3 year old for Christmas (a couple of weeks ago). He has loved it. I put his favorite songs on and he now goes for his "shaker" instead of my iTunes profile on my Mac. As for shaking it to change songs - that's an option you have to turn on.
Summary: I bought this for my 3yr old daughter last year and she absolutely loves it. It is kid friendly and was easy for her to learn to use. It also has an extra headphone port that her brother can plug into and listen.
Summary: i got this for my 6yr old for his bday and he loves it has it on day and night. I love that it has a speaker and the batteries are AAA so we can charge or replace them even in the middle of nowhere. Is extremely user friendly and recommend it for any music loving child.
Summary: This MP3 players is great for kids who want to listen to music and do not need headphones. There is no display which makes it difficult to find music. Will hold a 2g card which makes it great to put on tons of music for your kid. Battery life good and is just a AAA battery.
Great companion for my 2 year old when outside, shopping, etc

Summary: We purchased this for our 2 year-old daughter after hearing suggestions that this MP3 player is great for kids, and has a decent external speaker. Indeed, the speaker quality is surprisingly good considering the size...
Summary: Okay, here are some important drawbacks to the Shaker. BestBuy and Rhapsody both say the Shaker is Rhapsody compatible. It is in no way compatible. You're just going to have to add tracks to the SD card or device as is - they will not automatically format to mp3. Which brings us to point two.
Summary: I bouhgt this mp3 player because it's so adorable and I thought the kids would love it very much. Indeed, they did except there is the only problem I am not satisfied about. Amazon dropped 1/3 price just right after I purchased.
Summary: Other reviews have done a good job of covering the pros and cons, but I wanted to let Mac users know that the Shaker is Mac compatible even though the packaging says it requires Windows. And you can drag and drop songs directly from iTunes onto the Shaker.
Summary: Runs on a single AAA battery - advertised lifetime 10 hours, I don't have enough patience to test that, but whatever the lifetime is, I'm sure it would be longer if it did not continuously flash the BRIGHT blue led. It's cool, it's amazingly small (would it have hurt them to make it run on a AA?
