SanDisk Sansa Clip+ Review

Digitaltrends
31 August 2009
  • Conclusion: SanDisk’s Clip+ is truly the people’s MP3 player. While Apple has been busy stuffing the Shuffle into an even smaller profile and building a bizarre control profile that defies logic, SanDisk has been steadfastly improving the essentials: a bright screen, intuitive controls, and a reasonable price point. It won’t win any designs for industrial design, but a comprehensive list of pros more than make up for it.
  • Pros: Affordable; simple to use; small and lightweight; microSD expansion; long battery life
  • Cons: Exposed miniUSB port; lackluster styling

  • Conclusion: A microSD slot has been added, but not a lot else has changed since the last Sansa Clip iteration. Even so, this budget MP3 player still does a lot more than the iPod shuffle—and for less.
  • Pros: Very affordable. MicroSD card slot. Robust file support. FM radio and recording. Voice recorder.
  • Cons: SlotRadio cards are not included. Bundled USB cable is very short.

  • Summary: The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is an excellent successor to the line, offering a fitness-friendly design with a built-in belt-clip, a simple interface, solid sound quality, and plenty of handy features--all for an ultralow price. It's an unbeatable value.
  • Pros: The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is very inexpensive; it has a solid, pocket-friendly design with dedicated volume controls and a built-in belt-clip; it's easy to use; and it offers a plethora of handy features, including a MicroSD card slot, Rhapsody DNA, a voice recorder, an FM tuner, and support for FLAC, Ogg, Audible, and podcasts.
  • Cons: The SanDisk Sansa Clip+ could stand to have better battery life and support for AAC; the monochrome display is small and may be hard for some to read.

SanDisk Sansa Clip

What Hi-Fi?
26 March 2009
  • Excerpt: Packing 8GB of internal memory, the SanDisk Clip is seriously capacious for its size. As well as a small clip on the back of the player, an FM radio and voice recording functionality are included. The Clip feels cheap, but the compact design, responsive controls and illuminated display all combine to produce an intuitive little device. Unlike some weaker players, high frequencies don't sound too shrill and tinny, but we'd like greater overall detail and definition.
  • Pros: Sounds reasonable, responsive controls
  • Cons: Needs better overall detail and definition
