  • Summary: I took a gamble on this refurbished item. Bough it in January for my wife and her running. Worked great up with no problems up until this September where it wouldn't power up. It was charging via the usb port overnight and when I went to put some new tunes, it just wouldn't power up.

Sometimes buggy functionality

Philip Johnson III "Phil", Amazon
26 July 2014
  • Summary: I've had this for about a year now, and when it works, it's great. Not sure if i have a buggy version, but since the beginning there have been small annoying issues with the player. The first one was that sometimes the play/pause button just wouldn't work randomly.

Acceptable MP3 player with expandable storage

Jay, Amazon
11 January 2014
  • Summary: I wanted an iPod Classic, but couldn't spend over $200 on one. The Clip Zip turned out to be a decent alternative, but there were some issues. My music collection has high quality cover art, which is great for tablets, my computer, and smartphones, but not for the Clip Zip.

Battery life is disappointing

Vini, Amazon
31 July 2013
  • Summary: It's a nice player, really light and small, and the super convenient clip makes it even more portable. You can use it basically in any condition, even at the beach, since you dont even need a pocket.

Rockbox it

Mario C., Newegg
27 July 2013
  • Summary: If you're a tech geek, I strongly recommend you upgrade to RockBox's firmware. It made the player much more usable and overall a better experience. I will definitely check for RockBox compatibility for any future players I purchase.
  • Pros: Small, lightweight. Got it at a good price. Plays ogg/vorbis files. Worked with my Patriot 8GB micro SDHC card.
  • Cons: The firmware is mediocre at best. Not recommended for a poweruser (though most players aren't designed for power users). Why so many colors? Had to buy an orange one because blue was out of stock (and more expensive for the same memory capacity).

It's okay

Peter Kim, Amazon
30 June 2013
  • Summary: It's not a bad mp3 player but it's still a little difficult to use. If you're looking for a cheap mp3 player that doesn't feel too cheap, these are fine. It's not great though so if you have the money, look for something better.

Ok Hardware, meh software

William E., Newegg
4 June 2013
  • Summary: Purchased with 32Gb Class 10 stick. Database builds hung and product was unusable until Rockbox was installed, then it is working well. Very happy now, but a painful struggle until new firmware was installed.
  • Pros: Nice sound with earbuds and jawbone jambox. Good price.
  • Cons: Software unstable with add in stick. Database builds very sensitive to id3 tags. Had the latest firmware from SanDisk.
