Summary: I bought this mp3 player, for some personal reasons, the 1st, was cause I wanted to train on the gym, no need of too much songs, and a good look cause I dont like the slim actual mp3 players, it's a little tough look, good for a big strong gym trainer :p Well, only thing, take care your screen, it...

Summary: I feel bad so many have had bad experiences with the Forge. I've had mine since October 2005. It locked up at first, and Rio's phone-support folks directed me to firmware upgrade instructions. All has been near-perfect since then. The expandable memory is perhaps the best feature.
Summary: I bought the rio forge over a year ago for motorcycle riding when my hard drive 5GB model trashed the hard drive. I wanted flash memory, and an expandable slot for at least an extra GB of memory, and mp3/wma file playing capability.
Summary: This is my second Rio. I liked the first one so much I bought the Forge for the USB 2.0. I bought a refurbed unit for about thirty bucks. I love the thing, guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I'm surprised to see all of the negative reviews. I guess buying a refurb unit paid off, maybe they fixed it.

Summary: So you're happy with your purchase and one day the S.O.B. doesn't power up or do anything? Only 90 day warranty?? Relax. Here's how to fix it. Take it apart and be careful not to lose the screws or buttons.
Summary: THIS IS A VERY NICE MP3 PLAYER. AS A MATTER OF FACT IT IS MY SECOND ONE WHICH I BOUGHT FOR A GIFT. HOLDS ALOT OF MUSIC AND I LIKE THE FACT THAT YOU CAN ADD A LARGER CARD TO HOLD MORE MUSIC. THE SOFTWARE IS VERY EASY TO USE TO TRANSFER MUSIC. ALL AROUND A GREAT ITEM.
Summary: I bought the Rio Forge 256 MB in June of 2005 by December it would not work. The Rio has only a 90 day warrenty on labor so they would replace it for $70 if I wanted to send it in. Having paid $90 for it new I told them what they could do with it.
Summary: I actually bought two of these players - one for my wife and myself. At first we had a lot of the problems that people talked about here. I flashed the players and formatted them and the SD memory I put in and only use the RIO supplied software. Everything has been fine wtih both players.
Summary: If you're looking for a nifty, futuristic-looking paperweight, this item is the one for you. All you have to do is buy it and use it. It will die on you, sometime not long after the too-short 90-day warrantee expires, leaving you with no way to make it right.
Summary: I was looking for a simple mp3 player to use at the gym that had FM capability. The Rio Sport seemed perfect - I liked the design, especially the quality armband that came with it, and the fact that I knew the Rio name.
