Summary: I got a Philips MP3 for my birthday. I was excited to have something that would let me listen to my music. First of all, the sound got WAY to loud at the lowest volume level. It gives me a headache when I listen. Next, you can barely have ANY vidoes on it, the best I could come up with is 100% sound, 0% picture, vice versa, or 50% sound, 50% picture. Thirdly, I can't make a playlist other than the "To Go" playlist. It always runs out of battery too.
Summary: okay i get this thing for 60 bucks. It works fine for a little bit, but the controls are all screwde up. if i press fast forward it will rewind and it will pop up the stupid annoying "do you want to add this to the playlist". it will do the the same for rewind. if i press the menu button it will pause the song and go to to the menu or stop it go to to the menu then go back to the song and restart it. charging is another pain.
Summary: I have a Disney Mix Max video/music player for one of my kids that we've been using for a while. It plays WMV video and music as you'd expect. While there have been issues with that device, I was hoping that the Philips SA32 would be at least the same. While I have found that the user interface and controls are a bit better on the SA32, the SMV video format is terrible compared to WMV.
Summary: First of all, bear in mind that I got this player for $30 in Staples (May 09) so that sweetened the deal for me. And also, I am looking to get a larger unit in the future. Pros: 1- Nice size player. Small and fits in your hand and pocket. 2- Very responsive when I connect it to my PC. 3- Very fast transfers of files. 4- Good video conversion software. But it converts the files only to an SMV format. Nothing else plays on the unit but .smv. Not mp4 or 3gp.
Summary: I have the 8gb version of this player and so far I've had no problems. For the money, you really can't go wrong with the amount of storage you get as you'd pay close to the same price for other players with half that amount. That said, I think the player is VERY easy to use. Navigation is easy and the interface is very polished. Photo resolution is pretty sharp and not pixelated. Movies are a sort of a pain because the conversion program hardly recognizes any formats.
Excerpt: "...the player is unnacceptable. If Philips brought out a faster version of this player with less "Prone to crash'ness" I would probably get it, but only if i had chance to try it out first. I Suppose this is just what you get though for the £49 i payed for it. ...
