Actual product wonderful, service not so much.

Sigh, Amazon
21 August 2013
  • Summary: Let me begin by saying that a Zune is a pretty decent mp3 player and I have never had any complaints about the ones that I have owned. Any and all bugs with them were simply the result of my poor handling or many years of wear and tear. (I owned one that lasted me 4 years, I have had my current one for about 1 year). Bottom line is they're long lasting, the hardware is pretty easy to use, etc etc etc. My problem is with the seller.

Spoke too soon.

Daniel, Amazon

  • Summary: Upon receiving my zune I came here and wrote a good review on the timing of the package and condition. Over the past several weeks i've noticed the battery life on this zune is terrible. Some days im lucky if it lasts two hours. The battery life can say half full then be dead in ten minutes. I have owned this same style zune before and I KNOW this is not normal. Very dissatisfied with how this turned out.

I'll never get another Zune - Horrible

Mr. Theodore Wagner, Amazon
1 April 2010
  • Summary: Let me make this clear up front, this review is about the Zune HARDWARE. I really enjoy the Zune software and subscription service. It can't be beat. While the podcast selection is limited compared to the iTunes and the ability to subscribe to some podcasts is a pain, the subscription plan is fantastic. I will probably keep that subscription. I found the Zune easy to use and I really enjoyed it, when it worked. 7 months after I bought it, I kept getting repeated errors.

Zune 8GB

Wanda Collins "where ever you go, there you are", Amazon

  • Summary: This could very well be a user problem but this zune is complicated. tons of features are on it but only way to know what to do is online in the help area, as you plug in your zune the site will download and be on your desktop for future references. The head phone jack has a short in it or something and the wire needs to be wiggled around before you can get any sound. It's very touchy and crashes a lot where you can't get it turned back on.

  • Summary: We haven't been able to get the Zune MP3 player that we bought for our daughter's birthday to work.Every time we try to load it , it says we need an update from Microsoft. Try to get a Microsoft update and it always says it appears the link is broken. We haven't been able to get it resolved even after over an hour with tech support.

BUYER BEWARE!

JJ "j2zing", Amazon
15 June 2009
  • Summary: I bought the Zune after having my iPod stolen from the gym I go to (I liked the FM receiver option). Not only was this device quirkie...it was ridiculous. I had been a past iPod user and was used to the easy changing and re-arranging of music, playlists, etc. The Zune will NOT allow you to sign in and just re-arrange or whatever you want to do...it locks up, makes you completely delete and reload your music in the order you want it....who wants THAT???

Decent Hardware - Horrible Software

Donald Schoengold "DON", Amazon
3 February 2009
  • Summary: In order to better understand this review, I need to explain why I bought the Zune and how I want to use it. I want to use the Zune as an audio player only. I am totally uninterested in graphics or in video. I just like to have lots of albums at my disposal. I never purchase songs off the net. Instead, I have ripped most of the CDs that I own and also borrow CDs from the library. My focus is the full CD, not the individual songs on the CD.

Customer Service Nonexistent

Stephen Gibson "too much media, too little time", Amazon
19 October 2008
  • Summary: UPDATE 10/30/2008: I finally got my Zune back today, 3 weeks after I sent it in, and as expected based on others' experiences, it was returned unrepaired. According to the note I received (this was never revealed online in the "status" section of my repair), cracked screens are not covered by the warranty. See if you can find that language in your warranty, I couldn't. Good luck if you open your brand new Zune and find a cracked screen. Needless to say, I'm disappointed.

Very disappointing

neotechni, Ebay
18 May 2008
  • Summary: I decided to get a Zune to replace my 5 year old Gigabeat. The Zune has a nice big screen, TV out, and a very attractive interface. I assumed since MS is competing with the iPod it'd have all the functionality of it and more, along with everything my current player does. Unfortunately, MS locked the Zune down hard. You can't use it as a USB harddrive, and even though it was based on the Gigabeat it lacks much of it's functionality.
