Summary: I also bought mine at Target for about $100. Wish I hadn't! I had no problem working the controls once I figured them out. The sound quality is ok but not the best. My problem is that it keeps shutting off. Even with a full charge it plays a few songs (if you are lucky) and then shuts off. I thought Memorex would build a good product. I guess I was wrong. It's a shame it cost me $100 of my hard earned dollars to learn this lesson.
Summary: I also bought this MP3 player at Target thinking I would get a good MP3 player with 8GB of memory for my MP3 books... but,the best thing I can say about this Memorex is that I love Target's 90 day return policy. This product is poorly designed and hard to use. The buttons make selecting your song or book difficult. But, without a doubt, the gravest flaw is the lack of a bookmark.
Summary: I have had my Mp3 player for 6 months and haven't had any problems with it. I have over 300 songs and 15 video and still have 4gags of space left. The player never freeze up, the charge last long, the buttons works great, Fm radio works on a lot of stations and the on/off switch slides good. You have to hold the on/off button for about 2 second before the player turns off but who cares.
Summary: I won't waste much time commenting seriously, because you can read the other gentleman's review and get a clear idea of what you'd be purchasing. Mine lasted two weeks, ten days maybe? Let's put it THIS way: I only bought it because it was brand new and on clearance for $17. $17, who cares if it works?! I figured that I would eat the loss if it got stolen or broken- BUT I'm GOING TO GET MY $17 BACK now, as it cost more in time and aggravation.
Summary: Do yourself a favor and steer well clear of this piece of junk. I purchased this player and it never worked. Didn't work out of the box. Downloaded and installed firmware, still doesn't work. All recommendations from the Memorex website to fix it do not work. Pressing the reset button on the back doesn't work. My computer won't even recognize it when I connect via the USB cable. Emails to Memorex customer service go unanswered. Horrible customer support from Memorex.
Summary: I bought this for my daughter. It cost me $100. It worked for awhile. Then, we charge it, it says fully charged. The computer shows the songs that are in there. You turn it on, it says "building sorted list" then shuts off. I went online to see if I could find a solution and there are so many other people who complain about the same problem. I tried resetting it many times. Nothing works and there is nowhere you can get help from.
Summary: I was sent the memorex mmp9008 as a christmas gift. 6 weeks later it glitched out, powering up and shutting down, buttons responding and not responding. It was working one minute and pshyco the next. I called memorex, the tech support was okay. There was a form to fill out, mass emailer response, and after using the tech support number on the memorex site at each stage (representative interpretations of the email responses were needed.
Summary: This is hands-down the worst Mp3 player I've ever owned. While in the store (Target) I found it on clearance and really liked the idea of expandable memory. I bought mine in early October and at first it seemed alright at best. I still haven't figured out where the shuffle option is (there isn't one) and there isn't an option for continuous play.
Summary: I bought this MP3 player at Target around the end of July 2009. It was ~$100. I thought it would be okay. I liked it's clean look because I was entertaining attaching velcro or something to it so that it could be stuck on an automobile's dash. The automobile is a 2009 with a high quality stereo. I've decided not to affix things to the dash because that's tacky. BUT, I can't believe how bad this device is. It's mind blowing.
