Best player for spoken word, music's good too though
Nashville Don, Amazon

Summary: If you copy the files in one-at-a-time from your computer, they will play in that order. You can set it to pause for up to an hour. It's tiny, fits in the front pocket. I can download youtube videos, convert to mp3, and listen all day long with lots of pauses and not start over. I wish they still made it. Newer mp3 players are unnecessarily bulky in order to play movies. And/or they won't let you pause for very long. And it records well, great for lectures.
Summary: I bought this product in anticipation of recording my cassette tapes and dance mix CDs. It does just fine, but the software is not as good as my Toshiba Gigabeat U at separating tracks from cassettes. The noise from running the cassette itself makes it impossible for the iRiver to separate any of the tracks which I find to be a disappointment, but on the other hand I appreciate the ability to raise or lower the line-in recording volume and the high and variable bitrates...

Summary: I received no documentation for this product at all. It may work fine but until I have time to research on line to see if I can find some instructions for it or come across someone that knows how to use it, it is a pretty red box sitting in the bottom of my drawer. Very disapointing!
Summary: I have several irivers but I love the iriver t30 because of its size. I have it always with me and it goes with me wherever I go. I bought it for replacing another one that I have lost. It has a nice mono mic for recording and only one battery.
The Iriver Music Player - NO LONGER a Music Player for Linux Users!
Walter L. Williams "Walt L. Williams", Amazon
2 March 2008
Summary: If you are a Linux user, DON'T be fooled by the lure of this players ability to play OGG-Vorbis music files. This player uses a Microsoft only interface called "Music Transfer Protocol", or MTP, and can only be accessed by Microsoft Windows Media Player, version 10. (And by what I have been reading on the blog groups this player is also not usable by Macintosh Apple - MacOS-X users.
Summary: I bought this unit mainly for its voice recorder feature, very handy if I want to record myself dyuring music class. As other reviewers have already confirmed, the sound quality on playback is very good, and given that it it it has a mono built-in microphone, recorded sounds also sound good. Also useful at the expense of greater thickness, is its use of AAA batteries. The bad is the user interface.
Summary: I've tried a whole bunch of different mp3 players, and this one fits my needs better than any of the others. First, its small size makes it easy to keep in just about any pocket. Battery life is great, at over 15 hours, and the fact that it takes AAA's means that if I run out of rechargeable batteries while I am out on the road, I can pick up a substitute at any gas station. Well okay, you say, but how does it work? Great!
