The IRiver E10 offers many positive aspects. The unit features a very bright screen with clean and easy interface options. The IRiver E10 doubles as a USB mass storage device and is equipped with lots of EQ settings. The device features an excellent battery life and plays various video forms. The IRiver E10 features a built-in TV remote, offers blazing fast transfer speeds and comes with Shockwave flash support. Looking every bit like a television remote control, the unit favors the basic black and white look to the neon colors of other equivalent products.

Concerns include a tiny screen and the remote control is not programmable. Also, because the unit is of hard-drive form rather than flash-based, it simply has to be larger. Still the screen seems undersized for the size of the unit. There is no database support outside of IRiver so there is limited video format support. The base sales package includes the IRiver E10, an18 pin-to-USB cable, earbuds, IRiver plus 2 software, instruction manuals, and a felt storage pouch. True to many units, the proprietary USB cable is another drawback. One reviewer insisted battery life did not match the product claims. If you want a device that doubles as a television remote, then this is your baby. Yes, likely the most interesting feature of the E10 is that it can serve as a basic TV remote control for Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic and Philips televisions. With the IRiver E10 you can actually change channels, adjust the volume and turn your television on or off. Throw in the standard 6-GB hard drive and a big feature list and this unit offers an interesting value. If the battery does manage 32 hours, then the IRiver is one of the longest playing units on the market. But one has to wonder about the remote control television feature – is anyone really going to throw out their other controls?
