Problems with fast fwd, rew, since day 1, ZERO help from Creative Labs
7 July 2012
Summary: I owned a Creative Labs "Zen" 4GB model before this one and was VERY happy with that unit. It died so I decided to buy one with a larger capacity. The unit I purchased NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY from day one. I use the unit almost exclusively for listening to audio books, both MP3 and WMA formats. Bookmarks are very important to this endeavor.
Blind lady ripped off. No tech support. No library audio books.

Summary: The Creative zen X-Fi 8GB is not compatible with OverDrive Media Console, the software used by U.S. Public Libraries for ebooks, and audio books. Same problem with Adobe Digital Editions. Creative Labs Ltd, the manufacturer promotes it as compatible and as a good device for library books. Customers have been seeking help with this problem for 3 years. Customer service does not even try to help.
Summary: i bought this product because i purchased creative zen 2 years ago and it stood up to me dropping it atleast 50 times before it decided to finally die. but this time i decided to go with the step up, having the external speaker and it lasted exactly 1 week before it started to malfunction, so needless to say i am currently, stranded in Iraq with no music.
Cons: Customer service was awful. The first one I had lasted a month and Amazon replaced it, the second lasted 3 months and due to the cheap paint flaking they told me due to excesive wear and tear they would not warranty it.
Summary: I ordered this device because I had used a Creative MuVo for a number of years, and I was quite happy with it. Unfortunately, the MuVo died. The Creative Zen, on the other hand, was a complete disaster. It wouldn't charge at all! The computer did not recognize it was connected. Nothing, no matter what I did. I am not even sure there were any "innards" in the device as all. Tech "support" (and I am using that term very loosely)was NO HELP.
Summary: Save yourself a headache, look for a different MP3 player. This MP3 player has many issues, some people complained that this mp3 wont charge, wont last for more than 3 months or that its battery wont last. I got a new one, It will not work brand new just out of the box. I owned a Creative MP3 player before, and this one is of lower quality compared to the Zen Visions. I rather have a reliable but ugly IPOD.
Pros: Good sound. Good vision. nice looks, fab earplugs, decent playtime (in locked mode)
Cons: the WiFi function is useless, PC-software forget it! player crashes so often that the reset button is wearing out after a year. Better buy a cheaper unit for basic music playing, as that is all that works effectively!
Summary: I bought this player because my last creative player worked quite well. This one is different. The first Zen X-FI lasted less than three months, then just died for no reason. Unit would not power on after battery recharge. Contacted Creative by way of the web, got an RMA, then sent the unit to the Stillwater Oklahoma return center. Within 10 days I had a replacement. The second unit has just failed. Will not power on. Same problem as the last.
