Problems with fast fwd, rew, since day 1, ZERO help from Creative Labs
7 July 2012
Summary: I owned a Creative Labs "Zen" 4GB model before this one and was VERY happy with that unit. It died so I decided to buy one with a larger capacity. The unit I purchased NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY from day one. I use the unit almost exclusively for listening to audio books, both MP3 and WMA formats. Bookmarks are very important to this endeavor.
Summary: I was suckered into buying another creative product after receiving a 'discount certificate' as a result of a class action suit concerning another of their mp3 players. I probably used this 20 times in 3 years and it frequently locked up. The firmware was never updated by creative and they stopped supporting the product about a year after I got it.
Blind lady ripped off. No tech support. No library audio books.

Summary: The Creative zen X-Fi 8GB is not compatible with OverDrive Media Console, the software used by U.S. Public Libraries for ebooks, and audio books. Same problem with Adobe Digital Editions. Creative Labs Ltd, the manufacturer promotes it as compatible and as a good device for library books. Customers have been seeking help with this problem for 3 years. Customer service does not even try to help.
Summary: i bought this product because i purchased creative zen 2 years ago and it stood up to me dropping it atleast 50 times before it decided to finally die. but this time i decided to go with the step up, having the external speaker and it lasted exactly 1 week before it started to malfunction, so needless to say i am currently, stranded in Iraq with no music.
Summary: Long story short... I was very excited about this purchase. It had all the features i was looking for at a great price. Everything was working great until it started blacking out. I would have to reset it several times a day. I also had problems with my computer recognizing it when it was plugged in. Therefore, i could no longer download music. Very disappointed because EVERYTHING on it was great. But the bottom line is, it didnt work. Hense, the one star.
Summary: I owned a Zen vision M before this one (and loved it) and was looking to upgrade to a newer model. The Zen X-fi was a total rip. It's features make it worthless. It goes into standby mode when shutting down so that it can power up quickly. Standby mode drains the battery almost as fast as having the player powered up. After two days of being "powered off" with a full charge the battery is dead because the thing was in standby mode the entire time.
Summary: I ordered this device because I had used a Creative MuVo for a number of years, and I was quite happy with it. Unfortunately, the MuVo died. The Creative Zen, on the other hand, was a complete disaster. It wouldn't charge at all! The computer did not recognize it was connected. Nothing, no matter what I did. I am not even sure there were any "innards" in the device as all. Tech "support" (and I am using that term very loosely)was NO HELP.
Summary: Save yourself a headache, look for a different MP3 player. This MP3 player has many issues, some people complained that this mp3 wont charge, wont last for more than 3 months or that its battery wont last. I got a new one, It will not work brand new just out of the box. I owned a Creative MP3 player before, and this one is of lower quality compared to the Zen Visions. I rather have a reliable but ugly IPOD.
Summary: I waited impatiently for a week (free super saver shipping) to get my XiFi. When I finally received it, the player was dead! It would not charge up. The computer did not recognize it when plugged into the the USB slot. Just a lifeless piece of plastic and metal. If I could buy this at a local store, I could have taken it back to the store and exchanged it for a functional unit.
