Review Summary
Cute is a word commonly used when describing the Creative Zen V Plus. It has a colorful, shiny, rounded body and simple face design, with each color representing a different storage capability. Orange Zen Plus Vs are 1GB, green are 2GBm and the 4GB units are blue. One thing that is conspicuously absent from this model of Zen player is the convenient touch control strip. Instead, this has a joystick-style button in the center. The device is easy to learn and use, and is similar to other Zen products. In addition to its other features, the Zen V Plus also offers FM radio and video playback, as well as photo viewing and voice recording.
An interesting feature of this unit is its ability to import calendar and contact information for viewing and works with Outlook. The equalizer can be user defined or you may use one of the 8 presets, and with it you should be able to overcome the tendency of Creative products to de-emphasize mid and high tones. The Zen V Plus also allows you to customize the menu, remove features that you don’t use as much, and add ones that you do. One of the disadvantages of the Zen V Plus, however, is the small screen size. This makes it difficult to play back high quality videos with fast motion. The transfer rate for files is also rather slow, and this can make loading up your music a time consuming chore.
However, the FM scanner is very good at picking up stations, and the reception is good for all fairly strong stations. Battery life is a good 17 hours plus. Regardless of the low file transfer rate and the lack of video quality and support, the Zen V Plus is a fairly good buy for anyone who wants a cute media player and doesn’t mind spending around $200 for one.

The latter, 8GB model especially - just £20-£30 more nets you a 30GB iPod or Zen Vision:M, with screens genuinely capable of watchable video. Read more

Say what you will about the between Creative and Apple, both companies make some darned good MP3 players. Creative's latest effort--the Zen V line of flash-based player--is aimed right at Apple's popular line. And judging by the 2GB, $170 Zen V Plus I tested, it offers some serious competition to the Nano. Read more

Creative Zen V Plus
Reviewer: thetechlounge.com10 May 2007There isn't one big standout feature that makes the Zen V Plus a "must have" product, but it does a lot of things that a lot of portable media players that cost over three times as much can't even do. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that I can't think of another product off the top of my head that has all the main features of the Zen V Plus, and doesn't cost nearly twice as much. I need to stress the fact that images, especially video images, won't compare to th... Read more

The Creative Zen V Plus is a tiny Flash-memory portable multimedia player that handles music, photos and video, and it has an FM tuner and a voice recorder thrown in to boot. There is even a line-in jack for recording directly from a CD player or other audio source. The diminutive Zen V Plus is available in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models. We tested the 4GB version and found this matchbox-size device to be filled with big features. Read more

You have to admire the pluck of a 1-Gbyte flash video player with DivX support: Exactly one episode of Big Love fit on the Zen V Plus, although the 1.5-inch screen was barely large enough to make out Bill Paxton’s scowl. Digital photos, however, looked fantastic on the vivid OLED display. Features like line-in recording, an FM tuner, and a dedicated voice-record button make this the most fully loaded mini player around. Read more

I have dropped this mp3; down 3 flights of stairs (all at the same time), into a muddy puddle, off a second story porch and it bounced off the pavement into a kiddy pool. I have also put this thing through a washing machine, it has been attacked twice by a dog, and once by a hyper two year old, and not to mention dropped by me hundreds of times! And after all of those things that would of put normal mp3s into a scrap heap, my mp3 works perfectly fine, and the only neg... Read more

I bought this player to replace my aging Zen Micro. What struck me immediately was how small this player is. It has around 15 hours playback, double that of the Zen Micro but you can't replace the battery. This extended battery life appears to be principally due to the fact that the new player has solid state storage. The unit has an OLED colour display that can be tailored with various colour schemes. I'd sooner they had left an LCD as this is so much easier to see i... Read more

All in all, this is a great MP3 player, it is very easy to use and seems very sturdy and its size makes it an easy travel companion. I have used it for some long trips and was really impressed with the battery life and the amount of music/audiobooks I could upload onto it. I am a big fan of the audiobooks and was pleased to find the bookmarking capability available so I could return to wherever I left off in case I had to turn the player off for some reason. The lack ... Read more

A good music player?
Yeah, my player of choice is the Vision: M, though due to Calvin's need I think the Creative Zen V Plus is a better choice, all around.

MP3 player advice
You can do it for $200. The Sandisk Sansa e260 or the Creative Zen V Plus both clock in around $175. Sandisk lacks the fm tuner, I think, and both are compatible with WMP, which I assume means there's some podcast feed updater that will work with it. Anyways, those are you two real choices, so hopefully that helps.

[MP3 Players and Music] I need a high capacity portable media player
OK here goes my predicament. I originally intended on buying a portable player that played music and video. I went for the Creative Zen V Plus 2GB, mainly to play music but also for a few quick videos. The thing is really buggy (locks up often and sometimes gets really slow), the picture quality on video/album art is crap, and I'm in the process of trying to RMA it for online credit at the same sto...
