The newest addition to the MuVo line of players, the Nomad (or V200) is light and packed with features. The Nomad allows better play selection and settings for those who want more control over their organization and play lists, although developing the lists requires drag-and-drop in Explorer for import. The Nomad comes in various sizes from 128MB to 1GB, which is not a lot of storage space—if you’re looking for a large capacity music player, you may want to consider another model.

For those who like the voice recorder and FM tuners, the Nomad gives you both—and the entire unit has a fast and easy set-up process. One of the crowning glories of this player, however, is the general simplicity, which makes it ideal for those who don’t like to spend a lot of time on complicated gadgetry. Loading music is easy, although a cable is necessary for connection to the PC, and the Nomad offers several equalizer presets. The lack of storage is a distinct disadvantage, however, especially considering the high price tag.

Some of the more common complaints with the Nomad, besides the price and lack of storage, are poor audio quality and difficulty in operating the device. Even the equalizer can’t make up for the lacking, and in light of the high price of this unit, it hardly seems worth the money. The screen is difficult to read and the controls are too small. Because the main control is a disk in the middle of a dial, it’s hard to keep from changing volume when you want to thumb through your play lists and hard not to change play lists when you want to turn the volume up or down. In the end, if the price doesn’t come down on this player, you may want to consider another model with a better price or better capabilities and quality.
