Summary: This item is abysmal. After firmware updated and several resets, this unit would not come on. It would only show a partial boots then freeze. I've install some really good classic music and will have to listen via my laptop/tablet. No Windows program would recoqnize. No driver. This might be my last Cowon purchase. Ordered a Sony Walkman model instead. Stay away, worthless! LRB.
Summary: I love Cowon by quality frequence performance playback. I bought used “X9" with dead battery. For date of writing this review of 10/4/2014 on internet literally doesn’t exist battery replacement option. I can’t help myself read “this one” as critical Cowon care for customers. Recommendation: Do you want play MP3? Stay away from the Cowon.
Cowon X9 Killed Itself Even Though It Found A Good Home

Summary: When I first loaded my FLAC files onto the Cowon I enjoyed getting away from being forced to use iTunes with my iPod Classic. I like the drag-and-drop format of this player. However, the X9 did not recognize all of my files, even files within the same folder or album even though all of the ID3 tag information appeared to be the same. Also, not all album art appeared. But this is not why I gave the X9 one star.
Summary: I am very disappointed with this product as it did not work out of the box. I only wish I could recommend this item, but all I can say is, be careful when ordering from this seller and make sure you check whether the item works before the returns expiry date.
Summary: Like all Cowon products, amazing DAC and file-format support, with very poor hardware and UI design, both of which all of us music purists tolerate for the former qualities. But also like all Cowon products, it breaks quickly. Usually I make it about 18 months, but this one crapped out after only two months. Unbelievable even for Cowon. If you get a Cowon product, don't forget the Squaretrade warranty. I think this is the end of me supporting their lackluster products.
Summary: I was convinced to buy this due to a recommendation from a tech savvy teenager but have not really been able to get much functionality out of it since purchasing it 6 months ago. The screens are confusing and not logical to get to music and I need to look up a user manual every time I use it. Battery life is crappy, although this may be due to the fact that I can't even figure out how to turn it off easily(wtf?).
Summary: I used it for a while . I had problems with the battery . it just quit on me and now does not hold a charge . I contacted the company about a month ago on their website. I am still waiting for a reply. needless to say I am not happy at all after having spent so much money on something that I now cannot use.
Summary: The touch screen won't respond until I press the screen hard enough that almost can break it. Touch and scroll is really painful. I'm going to return it. Btw, the player doesn't support 64GB micro SD.
