Summary: Firstly, I have to agree that the sound of this player is very good, especially with right BBE setting. But the battery life is very poor in the first two charges, but getting better later. Thought about to return, because the battery run out quickly when the screen is on, is much less than adv 8 hours video. But if shut down screen, only listen to music, the battery run well.
Summary: I bought this as a replacement for my samsung p3. I could talk about all the cool little features this thing has but to be honest I bought it first and foremost to play music and it does it well. The sound on my p3 was great but this thing just ......wow is all I can say.
Summary: Needed a good player for my FLAC and APE files (which my iPod could not do).
Bought this player on the various internet recommendations although its ridiculous expensive in Europe (239 Euro for 16G version).
It's a very good audio player in a nice looking package. It drives my RS2 very well and playes all files effortless with good dynamics and musicality. I like the added BBE equilizer settings, especially when playing at work on low volumes to get a bit fuller sound.
Pros: Compact, lightweigth, very good sound (for portable)
Cons: Feeble USB / mm card cover, software stability issues at low battery
Summary: COWON J3 16GIG V.S. I TOUGH 2nd gen 8GIG*for sale and jail breakable*
Well where to begin.... I got this to replace my Itouch*that it for sale* due to the fact that the headphone jack is broken an easy fix I have guides for but I was looking for any excuse to get rid of the thing. I like the features the Itouch offers. I must say it is a great little handheld micro tablet*so to speak* but the output is just baaaaaad.
Pros: GREAD SOUND!!!, easy interface, not apple, almost ALL music format support, customizeabal, small, lightweight, GREAT screen touch and visual wise.
Cons: A little too flimsy feeling, The interface takes getting used to coming from an Itouch.

Let's face it, at the time of writing, the iPod has taken over the DAP (Digital Audio Player) market. Wherever one goes, one is bound to see someone with either an iPhone, iPod touch, iPod nano, iPod classic, or iPod shuffle. The characteristic white Apple earbud is more a fashion symbol than a way to be in touch with our music.

Summary: Alright I'm gonna start of by saying the same as everyone else. AMAZING EQ, Sound Quality is unmatched in anything else i've used so far. Also, i am testing all three units with Shure SE310 headphones, Bose Sound Dock II and Elemental Design amp/speakers, so three distinct systems, three different types of sound but only the Cowon has been able to sound AMAZING on all three platforms. Cowon J3 Vs.
Summary: For the price, this player is actually pretty nice. sound wise its better than most everything else in its price range except the s:flo2/t51 but if you want those, you have to deal with crappy UIs. Out of the box its okay but the real benefit with this dap is the EQ. many people dont like messing with EQs then id give this player 3.5 stars. with the EQ i give it 4-4.5 stars. build quality feels cheap. its very light. i suggest a case of some sort to protect it.
Summary: Managing files on the Cowon J3 feels incomplete. I'm using Cowons Media Center and managing and transferring files on this thing is a pain. I must of spent 6 hours trying to create playlists and fix tiny annoying errors like duplicates. You can't really manage files from the player itself. About the playlist function, I dont think you can create a reliable one yet. Either the files in the playlist wont showup or for me the whole playlist will just disappear after time.
Summary: To be honest, after reading numerous posts on iAudiphile or ABI about bugs,I was a little scared when I first purchased the J3. However, my worries were a waste for I am very pleased with my new J3. So far, my J3 has frozen once but I believe that was because I did not update the firmware (2.03 when I got it, now updated to 2.22). After the firmware update, the J3 no longer froze.
