Cowon iAudio 9 PMP

24 April 2010
  • Excerpt: The super sleek iAudio 9 PMP was on the very recent list of players that recently made it out of Cowon. It’s quite the looker as far as the lower-end PMPs go and could easily occupy a space in the iPod’s category. Although the new iPod Nano will outshine it simply because of the camera feature, the iAudio 9 seems to have the capability of holding its own. But here’s what I think.

Anything but iPod
9 February 2010
  • Conclusion: I still find the UI a bit awkward and it will take most first time Cowon users a bit to get used to, but the UI is taking some baby steps on improvements. I guess one of my major complains though is the proprietary connection and odd video cable that accompanies it. I would really like to see the micro-USB phone manufactures have agreed upon as a standard and video out built into the 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Pros: Native Xvid support, Sound Quality, EQ / BBE+, Screen, Solid Design / Great Build Quality, Gapless
  • Cons: Proprietary USB, Somewhat Awkward UI, Video Out Not Though 3.5mm Jack

What Hi-Fi?
19 May 2010
  • Excerpt: We almost fell off our collective chair in excitement as we got to grips with the Cowon iAudio 9. For not only has Cowon tried something a little bit different in its attempt to match Apple's intuitive interface, but the company has absolutely nailed it. The iAudio 9, better known as the i9, features a capacitive touchscreen, meaning it doesn't require prodding to move the screen. Instead it responds to human touch, allowing you to slide and stroke your way around.
  • Pros: Smooth touchscreen interface, slim, small device, smart menus, FM radio recording
  • Cons: AV performance is bettered elsewhere, control buttons on sides are a little fussy, only accepts low-res video

29 April 2010
  • Excerpt: The market for PMPs is not as happening as it is for mobile phones. However, Cowon has been steadily launching quality portable media players for a while now. Its latest offering, the Cowon iAudio 9 is a sleek portable media player that excels in media playback but is saddled with average touch based controls.

Test : Cowon iAudio 9

24 April 2010
