Cowon iAudio 7

PC Magazine
8 October 2008
  • Conclusion: Cowon's iAudio 7 flash-memory MP3 player appears promising at first glance, but the magic fades once its lackluster screen turns on.
  • Pros: FM radio. Radio, voice, and line-in recording. Decent file support. Excellent battery life.
  • Cons: Tiny screen, terrible for photos, video. Graphics look out of date. User interface confusing to navigate. Buttons easy to activate accidentally.

Cowon iAudio7

Tech2
11 August 2008
  • Excerpt: Recent advances in technology allow the compression of enormous amounts of data into tiny packages, and the Cowon iAudio7 is testimony to the fact. Yes, here's a robust little player with a lot of storage space. But does the iAudio7 provide you all that you desire from an MP3 / PMP / data storage device? That’s what I decided to find out. Form Factor Don’t let the pictures fool you. (They did fool me, by the way.

Cowon iAudio 7

CNET
10 August 2008
  • Summary: The Cowon iAudio 7 beats the industry heavyweight iPod Nano in price, features, battery life, and sound quality. The user interface could use some refinement, but all-in-all this is a very impressive MP3 player.
  • Pros: The Cowon iAudio 7 is one of the most versatile MP3 players available. It plays music, video, and photos; has unbeatable sound quality; records line-in, voice, and FM; supports OGG and FLAC file formats, plus DRM-protected WMA; works in MTP and MSC connection modes for use on both Mac and PC; and has an unmatched rechargeable battery life.
  • Cons: As tiny as the iAudio 7 is, it's still about three times the width of an iPod Nano. The reflective, glossy plastic found on the front and back of the player is prone to smudges and glare. There's a learning curve to the Swing Touch interface, and we would like to have seen support for Audible audiobooks, as well as a memory expansion slot.

Cowon iAudio 7 Digital Media Player

maximum pc
11 March 2008
  • Excerpt: Cowon makes some of the most interesting digital media players we’ve laid hands on. The iAudio 7 is no exception, although it won’t earn a place in our pantheon of favorites. It’s not for lack of unique features, fabulous sound, or broad codec support; it’s just that we didn’t find ourselves groovin’ on its primitive user interface, chunky formfactor, postage-stamp screen, and odd touch-sensitive control surface. So why are we rating it as high as “7?
  • Pros: Broad file-format support; great sound; innovative features.
  • Cons: Display is much too small; no support for WMA Lossless; odd touch-sensitive controls

Cowon iAudio 7 Review

Anything but iPod
19 July 2007
  • Conclusion: The iAudio 7 has a solid audio codec and feature set that will keep the casual and hardcore users happy. Added to this is a firm build quality. The sound quality is crisp with an even across-the-spectrum response that has the power to drive larger headphones at a comfortable level. Additionally, it has my sound enhancement of choice, BBE. I love being able to plug in my Sennheiser HD650’s without an amp, flatten the EQ, maybe adding a touch of BBE, and just listening.
  • Pros: Sound Quality, Powerful Amp, Very Customizable sound settings, Battery Life, BBE, Full of features, Lots of Audio file support
  • Cons: Unintuitive interface, Overly sensitive touch interface, Awkward Size – Too Thick, WMA recording only, On-the-Go playlists and bookmarks don’t work in ID3 Browsing Mode, Weak FM reception

  • Conclusion: Not only that the Touch Swing navigation system is easy to get used to, it’s also very responsive; any navigational command generated by the user is rapidly executed. Good quality sound has becomes Cowon recognition, and we are glad that iAudio 7 has not spoil it. The player supports hand full of audio codec including FLAC, OGG, MP3, WMA, AIFF and WAV and with at least 2 GB of space, you’re in audio nirvana.
