Great sound but constant, irritating glitches and freezes
10 July 2014
Summary: First, I'll start with the positive: the sound, like with most Cowon devices, is incredible. This is my third one; I've tried Apple and Samsung and Sony but none of them sound as good as these. This is the only reason I'm giving two stars. The cons that led me to return this: First, there is no easy way to create a playlist; when I transferred songs from my computer playlists into this one, it just dumped all 1500 songs in one stream.

Summary: I am using the Cowon D3 Plenue 32GB 3.7-Inch Internet Tablet with Android (Purple) with S/PDIF audio output to power the S/PDIF input of a FiiO E17. It sounds excellent. The processor is slow, of course, but this is the only unit in it's price class I could find at this time with this type of output. And the two units together power my 250 Ohm headphones nicely.
Summary: Great sound at a good price, and with Android onboard, much easier to navigate than my Cowon J3. Slightly larger, and heavier than my J3, but certainly not enough to make it cumbersome to use. Wifi works just fine, though I probably won't ever use it. All in all, a solid performer.
Summary: hell and heaven. excelent sound! A lot of options for custom. ok there. i think that cowon in quality sound cant be beated in massive devices. BUT... oh my! the ui, like almost all cowons stuff is awfull. delays, freezes, can read very well wap, but only can handle heavy files taking A LOT of time between records or tunes. ughh.. But.. what a beautifull sound! and like old audiophile i dont want less than that. So, just hoping an improve (please, its time!
Summary: My cowon s9 was stolen, and i bougth the D3 but i don't like( but is better then iPod). The cowon D3 is slow for android, i prefer the simple S9 only for music. Pro. The sound is equal tan S9. A+++ Screen is detail Cons Slow, very slow. Battery life only 9 hours. My S9 had 36 hours. Its a pseudo android. The bluetooth is bad, i have many problems with my speakers Bose.
Nice Player but it has a learning curve to tackle first.

Summary: At first I would give this just 2 stars but after reading some forums on the D3 I have learned some work-arounds and now I am fairly happy. The problem with my unit was frequent resets and it not recognizing my 32 gig sd card. I formatted the internal memory and for now just use my card only and after a week of use, it solved my card issues and the lock-ups. Sadly, it seems you'll have to either use the internal memory OR the sd card but not both.
Summary: i bought this to replace my A5IT, since it was the only device with comparable storage. unfortunately, it has been a considerable let down. with micro sd card, every time you turn it on, it gets super hot and scans the card for between 30 and 45 minutes, it will not play any music until this tasks is completed, and the added head helps kill battery life. it wont log into any google accounts, so play wont work, and there goes most of the apps.
Summary: Well, my first gen Zune 30gb mp2 player died a little bit ago after like seven years of constant use and no problems. I went to Walmart to buy something non-Apple to discover Walmart carried nothing but Ipods. So I bought an Ipod touch for 190 bucks. I took it home, it was shiny and amazing but it was only 15gb and none of my WMA's or WMV's were compatible with it and I couldn't download Itunes because my computer wouldn't allow it and their support couldn't fix it.
Great player for audio playback. However, I prefer the more expensive Z2.

Summary: Conclusion: Based on sound quality and price, I give the D3 four stars. If I listen to a cello, I hear the bow attack the string, I hear the string vibrate and I hear the cello resonate. I rarely hear such detail and clarity without paying a lot more money. Unfortunately, the processor of the D3 is too slow to enjoy Cowon's other features. If you want to be effective with the internet, look at the Z2.
Summary: I own a Cowon S9, and while I love the sound quality, I never really came to love the user interface. I also own an android cell phone, so having Cowon sound with an android interface seemed like the way to go. I saw the reviews of the D3 online, many of which were negative, but I decided to try it anyway. The complaints about being 'slow' are not really a problem for me. I think the interface is reasonably quick and responsive.
