Works but no radio and folder navigation is tricky

David Searl, Amazon
20 April 2014
  • Summary: I accidentally purchased this model instead of the nearly identical Coby with an FM radio, bummer. But the two stars are because the folder navigation is very unintuitive and after reading the instructions you still can't avoid a bunch of button jamming. If you are using it as a shuffle that might be fine but folders/albums/audiobooks are tedious to access. I would have given it three stars if it had skipped including proprietary software. It is junk.

Like it so far (just downloaded music)

James Grimes, Amazon
11 April 2014
  • Summary: Chose this because of low price and high customer ratings. Very pleased so far. Just downloaded music today, from my iTunes files and from some other types of files on my new computer at work, and it was the easiest player I've ever used for downloading files. Just plugged it in and transferred files by dragging them onto the player's window... didn't try to use pre-loaded software on the player.

These Coby MP301 players are worth their weight in gold as long as you follow simple guidelines to protect them..

Mike, Amazon
26 March 2014
  • Summary: OK... I read where people beat up on some of these products because they can be easily broken but as far as the electronics go, these players will give you a long hard use service life if you take care of them. I use mine every day and I know all of the weak points and the strong points on these little buggers.

Basic player worth the price; would buy again. PRO: Simple to use and long battery life CON: No way to fasten to body/clothes.

  • Summary: Got this for my boyfriend to have at work but I like it. He says he doesn't have a single complaint about it, except maybe that it would turn up louder but he's so hard of hearing anyway that he always says that! It came with cheap-but-decent earphones (the kind you hang in your ears) and the cord is nice and long it reaches my pocket with slack to spare. Overall the player is a great value (I paid $17 shipped prime). It is nice in it's simplicity, and it does the job.

Coby MP301-4G Micro MP3 player

Edward Premo, Amazon
19 October 2013
  • Summary: The Coby MP3 players are triple AAA battery operated and the batteries last 12 to 14 hours with alkaline batteries . They are great because I have several rechargeable MP3 players and the charge only lasts 2 or 3 hours . Recharging the rechargeables is inconvenient and frequently not possible .

Pricepoint is the best part

Amazon Customer, Amazon
13 October 2013
  • Summary: The sound quality is fine, I like the replaceable battery (I use a rechargeable Eneloop). But the quality is fairly poor--the earphones shipped were broken (it didn't matter as I have plenty of cheap earphone sets) and the buttons are very hard to control with my big fingers. I wasn't expecting a lot for this price, but I wouldn't get it again.

Does the job

OrangeFan, Amazon
24 September 2013
  • Summary: My previous mp3 player was a Sandisk Micro that sold for about the same price. Had it for a couple of years with no problems but time to replace it. Synced mp3's from my PC onto this player using Windows Media Player. Sound is okay but the buttons are very small and finicky on this COBY unit. Sometimes have to push the button(s) several times to get the desired action. The jury is still out on this one...may be returned for a refund.
