Great Little Player

juicelinee, Ebay
1 December 2008
  • Summary: I love my GMini because it's all about the music. This player makes no allowance for video or picture files, so you've got that much more room for your music. You can, however, squeeze in your data in case you need an external storage unit for any word files. It's also the smallest 20GB player I can think of. I especially like to take mine to the gym and when I'm traveling to and from work. It fits nicely in my coat pocket, so it's a convenient traveling companion.

Archos Gmini XS 202 review

gotkovsky, Ebay
7 April 2007
  • Summary: The Archos Gmini XS 202 is a "pure" 20 GB mp3 player. No more and no less. Battery life of around 10 hours is decent. Sound quality is fine. While it doesn't have video capabilities, keep in mind this is just an mp3 player. No special(proprietary) software is needed; just plug in the USB cable, watch the device mount, and drag/drop files. At 3" x 21/4" x 3/4", it is a very small player for 20 GB.

Great for music, durable and flexible, not state of the art

  • Excerpt: "...The gmini as with most archos products can be very different if you are used to other mp3s such as the ipod however once you get your head round it, it is quick and easy to use, although scrolling through thousands of tracks can sometimes be frustrating. The battery life is admirable, although as mine is aging, the life is gradually declining but not noticeably, sound quality is great and 20GB is plenty is you're just using it for music, although ...
  • Pros: 20 GB, can be used as external hard drive, good sound quality, great battery life

  • Excerpt: "Ive never been a fan of ipods. I think its something to do with everyone having them and the high price. So when i saw this mp3 player, that offered 20Gb of harddrive at a cheap price i couldnt resist. The harddrive space is big enough to satisfy any music fan. I havent even come close to filling it up. Also its just so small!! Most cheaper mp3 players with as big a harddrive space tend to be formed a bit like bricks but this is small and light, you ...
  • Pros: Small, cheap and easy !

An Excellent Mp3 player

  • Excerpt: "The Archos Gmini is not an mp3 player like the Apple iPod - it doesn't benefit particularly from its image, as it is something of an ugly little brute! That said, it is actually very small and surprisingly capacious, transfers to and from the player are fast, and unlike the iPod, the player uses the standard mp3 formats and no special software. The player does have one major shortcoming - it does not play videos, and the screen is basic but a good ...
  • Pros: Spacious, good battery life, robust

  • Excerpt: "...I am on my second Archos Gmini XS 202s because the screen bled on my first one, and I do not know why. Possibly to do with excessive pressure or heat. Nevertheless, my second one has been fine. I also occasionally find the bright blue 'On' light really irritating! But this can be solved with a well-placed thumb. My only other complaint is that the joystick is the only way to move through artists, and this can take a while compared to a scroller. ...
  • Pros: Many easy to use options, small with large capacity, memory stick tendencies .
  • Cons: Monochrome screen, possible weak screen, rubbishy headphones come with it .

  • Excerpt: "The Archos Gmini XS 202s is a excellent MP3 player, its simple with only two buttons and a joystick which control everything, the only thing that could be a problem is if you don't understand how to use it. Making sure you read through the manual properly is essential, as otherwise you could get a little stuck, especially with making playlists, and one thing I've not quite grasped yet is moving files using the MP3 player itself, which shouldn't actually ...

No Frills MP3 Player

Mitsudan, Ciao
16 June 2007
  • Excerpt: "...choice of headphones you use… Headphones The Archos comes supplied with a set of earbud-type headphones in a silver and black finish with a long cable and standard 3.5mm jack plug to connect to the player. The phones supplied with all portable music players tend to be of the cheap and nasty variety and the Archos is no exception to this. They produce a fairly poor sound from the player; thin and over-bright with weak bass and a general “muddiness” ...
  • Pros: Great sound, small, tough, stores loads of music

Archos Gmini xs 202s 20GB - crackin wee player!

bannyboo, Ciao
30 April 2007
  • Excerpt: "...to keep it any longer! The archos Gmini has more than enough storage for music and also any documents etc u might want to store. It is incredibly easy to use, so much so that i never had any need to look at the instructions! music is sorted into folders by artist and album so any song is easy to find at any time! The battery lasts really well on it and even when it goes down to 1 or 2 bars of charge there is generally still another few hours playback ...
