Excellent value for MP3 player (at used priced) Dated technology for video.

Summary: Paid: $40 on ebay, used. I bought this to use as a player. At the price, it sure beats and iPod. Since there is no ability to stream, the video is somewhat outdated. Battery life: 4-hour trip -- no problem playing mp3's Features -- Every thing I want. Design -- convenient for playing; but would like easier access to volume and setup features related to mp3. Very sturdy and good computer interface.
Summary: i cannot change or remove things on it with windows XP. it works better with windows 7. it stops communicating with PC when copying to it for more than 15-20 minutes. the archos AV500E is much better, even though it's a 30 GB drive.
Summary: This thing dose it all. If you like TV This will be a cherished wonder. This is an old model but the best working one of the whole Archos line. I have bought the whole line up of Archos devices. The sound is exactly in sync with the picture. The newer ones are not and the picture on the newer ones is dull. All the extras are included in the box, no expensive extras to buy. The picture is the brightest of all the archos as well as resolution.
Summary: Sturdy, dependable, a battery that seems to never quit, and crisp graphics. This is the best entertainment you could have for a long airplane or automobile trip! It is easier than juggling DVDs, and the screen size is a lot bigger than on my video ipod.
Summary: I have had the player in use for about a month now. It is easy to operate, loading music had some issues on a PC with Windows media player 8 but my winmp10 loaded in a snap. Loading DVD's onto the player was even easier. Just plug in to the player and hit record. The screen clarity is excellent The player I bought came with the cables, dock, protective case, remote, headphones and manual. I am very pleased with the item. I have only found two areas that can be improved.
Summary: I've invested alot of time and money on this French company Archos, enough to know their products inside and out, take a look at my Archos 504 160GB review if you ever get the chance. Pros 100GB of Storage Firmwire Upgrades Fair Amount of Pre-Loaded Codecs to play; .AVI,WMP 9, Record Off of TV Right Out of Box and Built in Microphone Cons Dual Menus Confusing and Annoying Buttons are Too Small Weight and Bulkyness Screen Can/Might Give Way If Dropped Too Much/Hard Ok,...
Summary: I've owned the Archos AV500 for like 2 months and it's a great device you can play mp3, avi, wmv, wma and others (also picture files) it has a decent storage the one i got is a 30 Gig and its great, specially if you use "CloneDVD Mobile" to compress it, it's very good i got like 43 minutes of video at 720x480 for like 450 MB you can make the resolution lower and it will make the file even smaller and still will look great.
Summary: I love the size of it. The 4" screen is perfect for private viewing while keeping the size of the player relatively small. The picture is crystal clear during playback with the exception of some less quality cartoons. It is very is to record off of virtually any device. The only slight drawback is that the avi to mp4 converter software doesnt always work on every video file (from your pc).
