The Archos 7 has a big beautiful screen to watch movies, play games, browse the web and generally do the basic things you can do on your PC, it’s large capacity hard drive makes it very easy to take lots of stuff with you. The price is a bit steep, especially considering you’ve got to spend more money for the ad-ons to really get all of the functionality of the Archos 7. Read more

Stunning screen, good design and no reflections to bother you when watching a movie. A bit on the heavy side, but with an 7", what do you expect? Read more

At $450 to $550 list, this isn't a cheap device. But it's unique thanks to the 7" display, excellent video format support and powerful CPU. Throw in the DVR station and you're spending $100 more, but it adds valuable functionality in the guise of high quality TV recording and playback to a TV (even large TVs). If you're interested in serious video playback and are tired of the cramped view on other portable players, the Archos 7 is enticing, and with 160 and 320 gigs of... Read more

If you value attractive, intuitive software, interface, or touch controls, the iPod Touch is likely a better, cheaper pick. If you want a giant screen, regardless of the portability issues it may cause, and want one of the best battery lives for music and video on the market, the Archos 7 is likely the media player for you. Overall, the Archos 7 is an attractive piece of hardware and definitely worth checking out if you've got deep pockets. Read more

My archos experience is actually the absolute worst that I have come across in 20 years of buying high tech products. A timeline of my "Archos Experience": 1. Oct 2007: I purchase the 605 wi-fi, the dvr station and the add-on web browser and cinema plug-in. All-in cost of approximately $550. 2. Nov/Dec 2007: I am the envy of Apple crazed friends with my 605 wi-fi and I am extremely happy with the product; 3. Mid Dec 2007: The 605 will not turn on; 4. Jan 2008: I exchange... Read more

First off update the firmware. That is a must. If you run into any trouble like I did though, none of the update instructions work. Instead of listening to anything Archos says, just download the file to the root drive of your player, browse the file menu under "Settings" and double click on the file. That is the only way it worked. Also, the wifi is sad. I have trouble connecting in place where my laptop claims my signal is "excellent". The screen is absolutely... Read more

[...]I bought this tablet to show my photogtaphs to people. It does that well and with 320 gigs I can load lot's of photos. The help menu answers are in video format. When i connected it to my computer, it synched and downloaded my music library automatically. You can put photo slide shows together with music and the speakers though poor in quality allow you to show slide shows without headphones. I could only watch the most simple videos. To watch any movies and any... Read more

Bought the Archos as it seemed to be a large screen Ipod touch. As its such a convenient size I keep it close to me and mainly use it look up stuff on the internet. Ive not had major success with the flash player games, there doesnt seem to be many games using flash player 9 and point and click only ( virtual keyboard gets locked away on the flash player games I found). I use the photo viewer a lot and the email part. in fact theres not many parts of the system I dont... Read more
