Apple iPod touch (3rd Generation) 32GB Review

BigPictureBigSound
14 December 2009
  • Conclusion: The annual modifications were less obvious on this go-around, especially when compared to this year's inclusion of a video camera on its headline-grabbing cousin, the fifth-generation iPod nano . I can't advise you to ditch your second-gen touch and replace it with this new model, but if you've held out this long, the tweaks are almost all good, and worth the wait.
  • Pros: Voice Control adds a new dimension to the already formidable control options, Now with Voice Control and VoiceOver, sight-impaired users will have superior access to their media, Faster processor not monumental, but we'll take those performance tweaks!, Voice Control adds a new dimension to the already formidable control options, Now with Voice Control and VoiceOver, sight-impaired users will have superior access to their media, Faster processor not monumental, but we...
  • Cons: touch VoiceOver not to be confused with simpler shuffle VoiceOver, Refinements to this generation not as pronounced as in years past

Apple iPod Touch third generation

CNET
14 December 2009
  • Summary: Though the updates are subtle, the third-generation iPod Touch leaves its competitors in the dust.
  • Pros: The third generation of Apple's iPod Touch is still the king of the hill when it comes to portable, Wi-Fi-wielding media players. New additions such as Voice Control, graphics enhancements, improved accessibility, higher capacity, and a faster processor help to refine an already excellent product.
  • Cons: The video cameras found on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Nano remain conspicuously absent. The lack of refinements to its audio quality, hardware design, and video playback leave us feeling just a little uninspired.

New additions such as Voice Control, graphics enhancements, improved accessibility, higher capacity, and a faster processor help to refine and already excellent product.

Expert Review

Channel5
13 December 2009
  • Conclusion: Not perfect, but the latest version of the touch adds some welcome and proven features from the iPhone, as well as heftier storage and some speedy performance, to keep this 'Pod at the top of its game.
  • Pros: It looks the same as the touch that went before it, but on the inside the third generation touch has new processors. The claimed "50 per cent faster" performance for once lives up to its build-up. In use the touch is speedier than Cristiano Ronaldo in a Ferrari, blitzing through apps and games. And thanks to new graphics hardware, they look spiffing too. As for that 64GB storage space, well that should be plenty big enough to hold all your music (unless you're Pete To...
  • Cons: The new touch isn't perfect. For a start that much-rumoured video camera didn't make it in (instead getting shoved in the nano). The Voice Control, too, is only limited to the high-end iPod touch. That ramped up speed has also hit the battery life. It's now dropped from 36 to 30 hours for music, while you'd be lucky to get the full six hours for video.

Apple iPod touch (3rd Generation)

PC Magazine
11 December 2009
  • Conclusion: Aside from a new white version, the best-in-class iPod touch remains physically the same, but gets new features, like iMessage, via the iOS 5 update.
  • Pros: iMessage allows for virtual texting between iOS devices over Wi-Fi. iCloud syncs content between devices wirelessly. Still a top-notch music player. Retina display makes text and images look incredibly sharp. Shoots HD video, takes photos. FaceTime video chat is solid. GameCenter allows social gaming with other iOS devices.
  • Cons: Quite expensive. Lousy earbuds. Low-res camera.

Review Of The 3rd Generation Apple iPod Touch 64GB

etechreviews.net
27 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Apple has the stormed the markets once again, with the launch of the new Nano and the 3rd generation ipod touch. Leaving the Nano aside, the all new ipod touch is much more refined that its predecessors, it carries an increased storage capacity, better graphic capabilities and a much faster processor too. The design of the 64 Gb is sleek and thin and the back looks like it’s coated with molten silver bearing Apple’s iconic logo.
