It stores data via USB flash drive. The 5th generation iPod nano features a video camera and a larger display screen (2.2 inch from 2.0 inch on the 4th generation) at 240 x 376 resolution. It provides accessibility to users via spoken menus which allow listeners to hear many of the names of menus, song titles, and artists without viewing the screen, alternative large font can make menus easier to read, high-resolution LCD display with adjustable contrast and backlight settings makes it easier to read in low light and captions in video are displayed when they are present using a legible, high-contrast white-on-black font.
The anodized aluminum finish iPod nano 5G is integrated with a video camera that can capture H.264 VGA video in 640 by 480 pixels resolution at up to 30 frames per second with AAC audio. The video capture mode is supported by 15 real-time special effects: Sepia, Black and White, X-Ray, Film Grain, Thermal, Security Cam, Cyborg, Bulge, Kaleido, Motion Blur, Mirror, Light Tunnel, Dent, Stretch, and Twirl. The unit is powered by a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provide sup to 24 hours of music playback time (5 hours of video playback) on a single charge of 3 hours. Users can synchronise and share their videos captured on the iPod nano 5G on YouTube via iPhoto software that syncs all the videos shot on iPod nano to a computer. Users can then browse and edit videos in iPhoto as desired before uploading or emailing them to friends. Other features on the iPod nano 5G are an FM Radio + Live Pause, iTunes Tagging that creates a list of all tagged songs so users can preview or purchase them when the unit is synced to iTunes; VoiceOver for music and video in multiple language support which tells users the title and artist of the songs or videos they are listening/watching to; a built-in accelerometer that doubles as a pedometer to keep track of steps and help users meet teir fitness goals (Nike + iPod Sport Kit required and available separately. Users are required to place the sensor in the built-in pocket under the insole and connect the receiver to the iPod nano for this function).

The 5th generation iPod nano is easily the best and most feature-packed iteration yet. I'm disappointed that it can't shoot still photos but my only real complaint is the same one I have had for every iPod I've ever reviewed -- the included earphones are still uncomfortable and mediocre. Gapless playback - who cares? I do! Maybe you too? I had iPods before this and wanted each and everyone of them to play gapless songs from dj mix cds or certain classic albums without resorting to multi-song single audio files. I even contemplated installing Rockbox on a 4th gen to get a taste of gapless playback. Honestly it was my biggest complaint against iPods, as much as I loved them. Overall sucks ; Most pros are outweighed by a con. Lets start with the positive : It has a nice design,large display and a good user interface that allows good music organisation and relative quick track selection. This model has all the new bells and wistles that make it an ideal carry personal music system - larger screen to view playlists & videos, an increased memory capacity to store music & videos, a video camera, radio,and on and on....some features I hve yet to try.
