Has Internet Radio facility, but can't stream common codec.

Summary: A great concept to stream virtually all codecs but falls down on the basics like AAC+ streams which so many radio stations are now using and for good reason. Better quality sound at low bandwidth ie. a 48kbps AAC+ file sounds better than a 128kbps mp3 or 96kbps wma streaming file, So great for those of us unable to access cabled broadband. Tunein the online portal won't allow WDTV users to add their own station url's either.

Summary: I was toying with the idea of buying Western Digital's WD TV HD Media player for few months when I heard of the Western Digital's WD TV Mini media player. As the price was affordable I purchased the product. Since then my entertainment has been fun. Mini media player is compatible with a wide range of audio and video file formats that you can rarely find in a media player. The Mini media player comes with a HDMI connection, Ethernet port and optical output.

Summary: I bought this as a christmas present for a friend who isn't particularly technologically inclined. I wanted something that she could hook to her television to play avi files. Shortly after I gave it to her, I asked how it was going. She told me that the screen showed two side by side images. I have a number of media players (and have set up even more) and I have never run into this problem.
An inexpensive alternative for those still in the SD world

Summary: I've had the mini for a couple of weeks now. My overall impressions are that it is a good, inexpensive alternative for the SD crowd - which is the reason that I purchased it (why buy a fancy unit for an old TV?). It did not meet my needs for my Panasonic 46" Plasma, but it works great on my ancient JVC SD TV.
