Summary: My product reviews tend to run long, so I apologize in advance for that. Quick summary-- PROS: Networks with both Windows and Linux computers Wifi and wired (ethernet) connections Supports external USB drives Plays multiple video types (MKV, MP4, AVI) (I haven't tried MOV or other video types) Has apps like Hulu, Netflix, Youtube, Pandora, TuneIn Radio HD output to your TV Easy setup, mostly idiot proof if you stick with defaults Streams fast on fast home networks Many...
Summary: I'm going to be brief. I have owned this for 7 months and until 2 days ago, it often made me angry. Audio issues all over the place, random restarts, slow to respond. NEW FIRMWARE was released 2 days ago that has fixed SO many issues. The iOS/Android remote works well and INSTANTLY. The firmware update brought this from what would have been a 2 star to a full 5 star. If you have this player and haven't updated, do so.
The only drawback is that it wont play the next Aud/Vid files automaticly!

Summary: This is a wonderful product with only one drawback that I can see is "It won’t play the next Audio or Video files automatically!" The WD Mini Player will go to the next file and play it automatically! It can be used to play back video, audio, and pictures from any USB hard drive or storage device. Two USB ports are built into the device, allowing you to connect multiple hard drives simultaneously.
Summary: i bought this unit to watch movies from a WD HARDDIVE notice i put that in caps... But when i updated the firmware now it dont see my 6tb harddrive and i couldnt uninstall the firmware so now i have a 6 tb harddrive that wont play... Sometimes it boots it self off my network i would be watching a movie and then bam frozen then offline.
Summary: It's been just over a year since I bought this product. Now when I am watching youtube it distorts the picture and sound. It throws message as file not supported! Once you restart it, it works for another 5 minutes. I'd not recommend anybody to buy this.
Summary: This product works nice, I can stream all my movies and other videos to it with no problems even large HD files play with no problem streaming through the network. There is a nice guide someone did so you can share a folder in your machine and watch everything with no problem. guide: [...
Summary: It worked great until it died after 2 weeks. set up was easy, resolution good, played all formats. So now I don't know if I should pay money to fix it or add it to my collection of dead WD drives.
Summary: I've had this for about a year and a half. It has never worked well with my network. My home network is not that complicated, I have a PC and a router and my WD is connected through an Ethernet cable to my router. Some days the WD can find my network but most days it cant. I have a Boxee Box and it never fails. This is a good player for plugging a memory stick into the side and thats it.
