the good the bad and the ugly

Kennedy Grey, Amazon
27 December 2013
  • Summary: While i love the WD visual interface vs. the Asus O! and other first generation media players, my big issue here is that the remote is way too small and unintuitive, has no volume control, and you have to do a little button dance (if you can figure it out...) how to jump ahead and there's no way to make that better. I bought an aftermarket remote (a larger version of this one) and though more ergonomic (and less easy to lose...

"Inconsistent at best"

htgauthier, CNET
16 April 2013
  • Pros: Easy to set up
  • Cons: I had trouble getting the media player to recognize the local USB storage device (WD), but when it did, I found that it would only play a portion of the movie then pause and load up more information. I have no idea why this happens.

wi fi doesn't work

Charles Lee, Amazon
18 October 2011
  • Summary: I already had one of these and really liked it but the reason I purchased it was to get wi-fi with it but it doesn't work so I just have the same thing I already had. The product is good and eliminates having a bunch of CD's laying around. I use it with a 500gb passport.

"Worked great, when it worked!"

imanione, CNET
22 April 2011
  • Pros: Easy install. The internally installed programs work great! Works they way it says it will. Quality of the display is as good as your TV will do. Doesn't come with a lot of complicated extra wires.
  • Cons: It seems to prefer being connected (wired) to devices over working wirelessly. Had to spend extra $ to make it work wirelessly. The 1 we bought quit working after a week, we took it back. Couldn't get it to work with my MacBookPro wirelessly.

  • Summary: This is a very handy device to watch your photo's, video's,or movie's that you downloaded on your external hard drive. You're even have the option to review the movie before you actually watch it! Your external hard drive connects directly to the Media Player then from your Media Player via HDMI cable to your HDMI connector behind the HDTV. Simple, Easy and fantastic with the REMOTE CONTROL!! Don't forget to buy your hard drive!!
