Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: I had trouble getting the media player to recognize the local USB storage device (WD), but when it did, I found that it would only play a portion of the movie then pause and load up more information. I have no idea why this happens.
Summary: Thanks to a good product and the many interesting reviews on Amazon, I purchased one from a seller for $99.00. It appears to be brand-new in its box. All I can say is WOW!! I am impressed with the Western Digital HD Live Media Player. It is capable of Internet connection to go to NetFlix. I am using this box for high quality "Movies-on-the-go".
Summary: I've bought two of these now and both have showed up D.O.A. All I get is the start up display and a blinking light on the front of the unit. Unplugged as directed for 10 minutes and plugged back in to the same thing. What a waste of time and money. Will keep looking for a different HD media player but this one is a big dud.
Summary: I bought this to play videos on my TV rather than on the PC, wasn't really expecting much from it to be honest, but as long as it did a decient job. I was pleasently suprised to find that this media player was top quality. Its small, easily hidden out the way and doesn't take up that much space. The picture quality is crisp with clear audio, and the interface is streamlined and easy to navigate.
Summary: I purchased this product in hopes of being able to get movies from our family's various video cameras to work on my new smart TV because the TV would only read certain file types. I am amazed at what this little box can do. I haven't found a file it hasn't liked yet. I love it!
Summary: I bought this guy over a year ago, and no problems thus far! Updates ARE available from Western Digital, so go take a look at their site Also, I don't know if this applies to everyone or I just had a random one, but the one I got is the European model. At first I was like, "Great, now I can play PAL movies on my 50hz tv... NOT!
Summary: Received this as a gift. it's a great little player! Doesn't take up much room and I just copy the file i want and stick it into the port! Really convenient to play quick videos or share pictures on my TV. Movies work great too!
Summary: This is the first media player I bought. It had issues right out of the box. It would play videos but there was no sound. Turns out it didn't like the audio codec. Converted the audio codec and then it worked ok (more work than it needed to be). The playback is good but video navigation is clunky at best. Fast forward works ok but it is not real time and it's hard to find the exact spot you want to stop at. Forget about rewinding. It's choppy and unresponsive.
