Conclusion: The Western Digital My DVR Expander is a boon for viewers who like to keep programs they've watched, or for those who watch way too much TV.
Pros: More recording space without cracking the case on the TiVo (or leased cable DVR). Works with Scientific Atlanta 830-class cable DVR and both Series3 HD and HD-capable TiVos. Quiet and unobtrusive.
Cons: Not certified for Motorola DVRs. Costs almost as much as the DVR itself. Can't use the drive to transfer videos to your PC or from DVR to DVR. Requires software update of TiVo Series3 HD or TiVo HD units. Doesn't work with Series 1 or Series 2 TiVos.
