Summary: I bought this on Amazon less than a month ago for $49.99, and I was going to buy one for my dad as well. I logged on 3 days ago, and the price had risen to $69.99! I logged on yesterday... $89.99. TODAY they want $104.00?!? WTF Amazon??? So please, DON'T DO IT!! Best buy is selling them for $49.99, so do yourself a favor and don't be ripped off. Go to Bestbuy.com, or look it up on google shopping. Seriously, Amazon... you're losing me here!
Summary: Horrible experience with this item... I usually like to rate my bad items with a 2 star but this was really worth a 1 star... the item is functional but the wifi quality is just bad. It took me 5 mins to connect to the internet despite the fact that my other items took seconds.
Summary: Was going to return this after reading many reviews and am glad I did not. Set up was easy. Went with the AV cables supplied in the box and hooked it up to my Denon 3805. My equipment is older so I do not have HDMI capability. Did not use the wireless feature as I have access to my LAN through an ethernet cable. It works great and there is a ton to watch. Was thinking of buying a smart tv to get the same features available here. For $49 now I don't have to.
Summary: Out the box it feels solid, well built and has a host of connections on the back. This is connected via HDMI to my TV for best quality and least wires. Its also connected via ethernet to get the top speeds from my internet.
Pros: + Solid, well built and has a host of connections on the back, + Setup was simple and took a few minutes, + Menu system is alright, + Image viewer works fine, + USB media playback, + Works with any TV
Cons: - Lack of ITVs on demand service and 4oD, - Navigating Youtube is difficult with the annoying input system used
Summary: I have to say that I am very disappointed with this unit, for the following reasons: - It is UNBELIEVABLY slow. It takes at least 5 minutes to start playing a file from the DLNA server. It is so slow, I thought it was broken. - It only supports external storage that is plugged directly into the player. It can't use an external drive on my home network. I also have an LG BD570 and it supports both direct-attached and network attached devices.
Summary: I purchased Sony Player after owning a ROKU box and Cutting the CABLE. In my opinion the Sony is a much better product than Roku. In addition to streaming Netflix, Hulu and whatever else, the Sony also plays video files off my PC via my wireless network, AMAZING. PC can be easily set-up via Itunes or Win 7 media player. I also tested with Flash drive with movies and worked with no problems. So far it played MPEG and AVI file formats with clarity and no skipping.
Summary: If you are serious about buying this, do what I failed to do before I wasted the money. Search for "Sony Netflix Interface" and see how many bad reviews there are, and for how long Sony has apparently not cared. I bought this specifically for use with Netflix. It is the worst Netflix interface of the 3 I have used. Compared to X-Box 360 and Wii this interface sucks. Don't rely on only the reviews on Amazon like I did.
Summary: I purchased this N100 in the hopes to receive a (space saver) do it all device as far as wi-fi players goes. I am very disappointed with the component/technical quality because I found that the player does not in fact receive signal well and its function responses are way too slow no matter where I place the unit in the house and even when switching out other working units. Maybe an external antenner or wifi adapter can make all the difference?
Pros: So many great features of programs if you can utilize them all. it is light & small and fits anywhere with all the audio jacking hook-up you'll need for quality sound.
Cons: Won't retrieve proper feed or transition so, what good is it having so many great features if you can't take advantage of them properly? Some users are saying it's because of a third party feed streaming. Well, I just know that it's junk!
