Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7)

PC Magazine
30 December 2012
  • Conclusion: The Sony Internet Player With Google TV (NSZ-GS7) is one of the better ways to get Google TV on your HDTV, even if the platform itself still suffers from a lack of polish.
  • Pros: Well-designed remote. Plenty of functionality. Lots of online services and apps.
  • Cons: Not as polished or intuitive as other media hubs. Finding good apps requires combing through many not-so-great ones.

Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player With Google TV

Sound & Vision Magazine
26 October 2012
  • Excerpt: When I decided to review two Google TV media streamers back to back, I thought there would be little difference between them. After all, Google TVs run on an Android platform, and both the Sony Internet Player with Google TV and Vizio’s Co-Star would have most of the same apps— pre-loaded apps or those available through the Google Play Android Market. I was surprised to find that there was more difference than I had expected.

Sony Google TV NSZ-GS7

AVForums
28 September 2012
  • Conclusion: The Sony NSZ-GS7 is a typical example of Sony engineering – well constructed, designed with understatement and generally well thought out. There’s also a healthy set of connections for a device so compact and the ability to ‘sit between’ another HDMI device and the TV sets it apart from the likes of the Apple TV.
  • Pros: Sits between HDMI devices and TV, Controller makes web use very palatable, Very vesatile, Well engineered, Lots of potential, Google Chrome, Good media file support
  • Cons: Chronic lack of dedicated apps, User interface might put some off, Some lock ups, Price seems a little high

Sony Internet Player with Google TV review

Pocket Lint
24 August 2012
  • Excerpt: Once something that every tech fan under the sun was desperate to get their hands on, but only the Americans could really enjoy, Google TV was a hot topic. After a year or so of proving itself to be fairly pants abroad, it has now hit European shores in an updated form in the shape of Sony Internet Player with Google TV.
  • Pros: Nice UI, easy to setup, responsive
  • Cons: Lack of apps, other cheaper options do more and better

Expert Review

PC Advisor
24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: The Sony NSZ-GS7 Internet Player with Google TV is a stylish, slim black set-top box that won't look out of place in the most stylish of living rooms. All the ports and the power cable sit nicely around the back, and a single white LED blinks out from the front. It's fully on board with Sony's style principles: we slipped it on top of our PlayStation 3 beneath the TV and they sat together nicely like long-lost siblings.
