Summary: Alright, after doing some research I have come to the conclusion that my second Slingbox that breaking within one year was not a coincidence. This time there was a lot of smoke actually coming from the unit and it smelled really bad. It wasn't even streaming when it happened too.
Summary: Slingbox Media deserves nothing less than class action lawsuits and bankruptcy.
Pros: Before it self destructs, AND IT WILL, it works okay
Cons: This device WILL fail. Count on it. Search the internet. See for yourself. Slingbox Media culls their forums of any posts regarding the garbage that they sell. After 30 days they charge $30 to even talk to you for support. The one year warranty is a LIE. Bad capacitors, updates that brick the uni...
Summary: Update (October 2012): If customer service is of any value to you whatsoever, look elsewhere for another TV placeshifting product. I don't know that I can adequately put into words my dissatisfaction with this company, but I'll try.
Summary: I've had the Slingbox SOLO for about two years now. It bought it so I could watch cable TV on the train to and from work on my iPhone (an additional $30 for the app). After several months, it started disconnecting after a few seconds every time.
Worst Support Ever Experienced! CHECK if your device is supported before buying.

Summary: This thing does what it's supposed to do the but the support SUCKS. Half of the new DVR's are NOT supported which is absolutely ridiculous for a product that is supposed to allow to stream TV. The website is the worst website I've ever come across.
Summary: I am a computer professional, so I am pretty good with technology, but after 3 frustrating hours and several calls to the support people, I gave up. I couldn't get my laptop to recognize the Slingbox and that was when it connected to my local network.
Summary: Here is the worst thing about Sling... The issue with this box is well documented all over the web (Failed Capacitors)... but they will not allow it to be discussed of their forum... they will delete any mention of the issue and direct you to their $29.99 per incident support line.
Pros: Remember when you you didn't know that you needed a DVR and now you can't live without it. Place Shifting TV is very similar to that
Cons: Like many other reviews state - It will fail 12-15 months after you buy it under normal use. Sling will not help you unless you shell over money to speak to their support group. Then they will offer to sell you refirb after they confirm it is fried. Check other owner reviews on the web ... this f...
Summary: Before purchasing this I was quite hesitant since there were so many reviews of units failing and terrible customer service. I decided to try it for myself since there weren't really any other options I liked.
Summary: Had I read the reviews on this product prior to purchasing it I wouldn't be in this position. The Sling Player is horrible as the others have spoken of. I purchased this as a Father's Day gift for my husband and it hasn't steadily work since the installation.
Cons: The firmware kills the player.. No refund only replacement on item. Life span too short for such a costly device.
