Summary: I have been using this media player for the past several months. It integrates well with my television and internet capabilities such that it is easy to understand and utilize. There have been no problems with the unit and I am totally pleased with it's performance.
Pros: Shared file over the network works amazing. My 55 year old mother (who is quite tech savvy) could use it with easy. All she had to do was switch it on and point at the shared folder on the laptop all from the onscreen menu, and viola, it plays her movies
Cons: Hangs a bit, now and then. No Wifi integrated.
Summary: I was interested in NetFlix streaming and my Sony TV & Blu-Ray player don't have those options. Then I started researching about the media players and came across this one through the Netlix ready devices page. I looked through the reviews and decided to purchase for its brand and price. Plus I already had a 500GB FreeAgent HD with me.
Summary: A very pleasant surprise that any movie I can move to hard drive, with a USB connection. This includes clips and home made videos. As if that weren't enough, when it is attached (prefer HDMI) the device can detect the files and play them as if I had a multi-changer DVD player. As if that weren't enough, tons of photographs and thousands of music selections are as easily accessed. If needed, as many a three hard drives can be "hung" off of this box.
Summary: The Seagate HD FreeAgent Theater 1080p+ is an incredible product for those who love to watch movies. It handles every format I throw at it (mkv,ISO,avi, mpg, etc) and the setup and ease of use make it a winner in every respect. No more converting or burning of videos. Just add files to your portable Go drive or other external hard drive and let the player do the rest. Thanks Seagate! Thanks Amazon! First time ever reviewing a product and delighted to do so.
Summary: I have bought two Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ 1080P Media Players STCEA201FX to use with the NetFlix "Watch Instantly" service. I hooked one up to a new flatscreen TV using HDMI. The second one I hooked up to an older TV using the supplied component cable. Very easy setup. Both were up and working in about 10 minutes. Activation with Netflix was seamless. I have also used the Free Agent Theater with USB Flash drive to play a movie that was converted to an MP4.
