Summary: KIDS LOVE IT, works great as an in car DVR. i copied movies from our Tivo onto a seagate Go Flex drive plugged the unit into the vehicles auxiliary ports and presto hours of TV shows and movies for the road. this was a life saver for our road trips. just be aware that the text for the interface appears small so it can be a little tough to read but that is not the fault of the unit as it is meant to be used on big screen TV's.
Summary: After updating the firmware, this is a very good movie player. I have tried several other brands and this is my favorite. I have bought nine of these so far for various family members and they all love them. Wish the remote worked a little better. P.S. Player works great with the Airlink101 Wireless 11N Mini USB Adapter which you can get online for around $12.
Summary: Setup wasn't as easy as I had hoped. I got an HDMI cable and found a USB wireless adapter that posters on Seagate's support site forum said would work with the GoFlex TV. I put the USB wireless adapter in back thinking it would make plugging in a USB external drive easier having the USB slot on the side available. It found my AP and I got an IP address. It would play Youtube video but not Netflix which I had gotten the unit primarily for.
Summary: This device provides a great deal of flexibility in playing media files on your HDMI TV. Seagate's GoFlex drives are very convenient, but one can easily utilize USB devices as well. It's easy, convenient and a joy to use.
Summary: I wanted a device to play my DVDs from an external hard drive on to my tv. I bought the WDTV. After set up and copying 300 DVDs I noticed that the WDTV could not play back my DVDs. It would stop every 5 minutes. The WDTV is also very slow with its processing commands. The WDTV community forum was loaded with complaints and no response from WD. I read about the Seagate Go Flex TV. I returned my WDTV and ordered the Seagate from Amazon. It shipped from ANTOnline.
Summary: After reading the two ititial reviews on this product, I decided to purchase this system vs. their main competitor.(too many bad reviews) I already have an XBox360 with a fully loaded Media Center Interface for movies using Media Browser as a front end. (elegant) Although the XBox serves its purpose with games, movies etc, we were looking for something simpler to just power up and play dvd content complete with menus and the bonus for us was the Netflix access.
