Summary: I've had my Roku XD unit for almost a year now, and I'd miss it if they took it away - but I think all these glowing reviews are just a little over the top. I got mine because I was watching Netflix on my computer with a cable, and a streaming player sounded good - and it was.
Summary: I've been using this for Netflix and Panadora at 1080i on a 65(?) plasma TV. I WOULD use it for youtube but you can't - some sort of licensing argument so it's not available and the workarounds on the net don't work anymore.
Summary: I purchased an LCD TV with "apps and internet" built into it. Never do that, get a Roku! The TV manufacturers can't keep up with the speed of development and the quality that Roku offers. Once I got my Roku, I've never used the TV apps again. Don't hold back, buy it!
Summary: It's now taken over 6 hours, 3 different case numbers, several lost emails, 4 failures to return phone calls, and 1 lost fax. We've spoken to 11 different Roku customer support agents who were mostly ineffective and sent an email to a "customer advocate" who of course ignored us.
Summary: I bought this for my parents a few months after I introduced them to Netflix. They love renting discs in the mail, but had never taken advantage of the Watch Instantly capabilities. I bought the XD as I wanted them to get 1080p on their HD Plasma TV (Pioneer Elite).
Summary: I've had this product for over a month now and I will say I love it. It's cheap, and once you figure out how to hook it up, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I have been streaming NETFLIX and HULU PLUS with zero issues for over a month, but the first few days were painful.
Summary: I researched for several weeks before deciding to purchase a Roku. I didn't find reviews that necessarily answered my questions, so I hope this one helps. For anyone who has high speed wireless internet in their home or office, I HIGHLY recommend the Roku 2050 XD player.
Summary: We purchased the Roku XD so we could watch Netflix on our TV instantly. We were getting tired of grabbing the laptop and plugging it into the TV. With the Roku, it allows us to watch movies on demand without the high price of cable or the commercials. Very easy to set up.
Summary: I received my Roku earlier this week, and so far I have enjoyed what it has to offer. The setup with a bit of a chore; it definitely didn't take five minutes as advertised. I hooked everything up, plugged it in, and it quickly recognized my router.
Summary: I bought my Roku XD about 3 weeks ago and it has met all my expectations. I wanted something that had enough internet apps to allow me to watch news, sports updates/games, television programs and movies. With my Netflix account and the Roku apps, I'm able to do all of that.
