Summary: 1, Roku asked for a credit card. 2, there is no Power ON/off, pull the ac adapter out to turn off. 3, when I was setting up the unit it told me trouble connecting to the server, so I had to reset it. 4, slow loading up Good thing about it, channel store has free channels, and some channels cost $1.99 ... watching live channels such as news and movie free from some of the apps.
Summary: I should have known better from my experiences with the Roku wifi radio (it didn't survive long also - the internal power transformer burned out because it never should have been designed to reside inside the case): suddenly as I'm watching a movie today, this device lost its ability to connect wirelessly to my home network.
Summary: I am writitng and changing my opinion towards this product and service of tec support. I have at this time 4 roku boxs in my house. This product is a total waist of of money. Getting help is rediculas. I have been trying for the past month to get someone of actual intelagence. Each time I chat with someone I am processed through the same procedure each time. i walk them through the steps.
Summary: This Roku HD-XR Player advertises to support an 802.11n wifi connection. IT DOES NOT! I have a Belkin N+ wireless router, and with this router my Nintendo Wii and Vizio Blu-ray Player can read 100% 802.11n wifi connection with all 4 dots without any interruption. The Roku HD-XR Player was sitting in between the Nintendo Wii and Vizio Blu-ray Player and I could not even read a wireless signal.
Summary: LOVED IT for the week it worked..but then it completely stopped working and I couldn't do anything to get it to unfreeze. It was outside of the return period, but Amazon came through (as usual) and let me just return it. So bummed that it didn't work! It was such a great gadget.
Summary: My son calls it junk because it will not work and I guess it is. We can only do a wireless connection which this is supposed to do. It finds the wireless connection ok but it does not connect to the local network. So we can't use it. That makes it junk.
Summary: I bought a refurbished one with a supposed warranty. Mine only lasted a month before it turned into a brick. The best part is the Roku people don't seem to want to honor their warranty. Don't ever buy a Roku! That company is worthless.
Summary: Order from Roku on the 7th of November, and Still waiting for delivery Contacted Roku about my order but get no answer, Paid with my PAYPAL account and giving them the Transaction ID,But no Answer.Waiting one more week, then contact Paypal to get my money back, and buy an Apple TV.
Summary: I don't know if all Roku Products are defective, I do know Amazon sold me a defective ROKU XR and will not exchange it for a working product. They may have sent me a used defective model. I called Roku Tech support, that verified it was defective, and that it should be replaced but said Amazon should replace it. So round and round we go, as if I were dealing with a bank.
