Excerpt: As a wedding cinematographer, I purchased the Roku3 in order to screen SDEs and slideshows free from my laptop (which I needed to edit on). It played HD videos wonderfully. Just a few things: 1. I had with this player is that for their slideshow, the couple wanted the keep the video on loop throughout the night. Unfortunately, on the Roku USB media player app there was no way to play the video on repeat. 2.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Excerpt: I had a Roku years ago, before eventually getting an Apple TV, I can't really recall why I got the Apple TV... but, think it was really only because of I use an Apple computer, iPhone, etc., and think was interested in being able to use the mirroring capability of my TV as a second monitor kind of thing for both. Both the old Roku and Apple TV, I gave away last year, for reasons that have nothing to do with either, but for external other reasons.
Excerpt: We bought the Roku 3 because of the good reviews it got and because neither the Sony nor the Apple TV offered Amazon video. The layout of the Roku home screen is uncluttered and straightforward.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Improved Audio/Video, Simple Controls
Excerpt: I bought the ROKU for my non wireless, no apps LCD tv set in the living room. For my surprise the ROKU is SMALL and setup was quick and hassle free. The remote control is comfortable in the hand and does not need a line of sight with the ROKU. I mainly had used it to watch Netflix and Amazon video with no problems at all. The YouTube app works ok, and the Vimeo app works good. Nice to have some available games.
