Summary: I love all the different channels roku offers, I think it gets rid of the need for cable entirely. There is even a live stream channel so you can stream the superbowl etc. It's very easy to set up and navigate the menu. It's honestly better and has more options than my smart tv. My only complaint is that this version does not have the new Netflix update where you can have different profiles and watch 3 episodes continuously, but not a big deal for how cheap this is!
Summary: We have the 2nd one also which I would recommend getting a newer one. We got this for our daughter cause we have Dish but its getting so expensive we are going to drop it when our contract is up and just go with a couple Roku's and a Android box for us. It's great, we use it mostly for Netflix but there is PBS on the which the kids like and shows they like. Plus the boys want to get the WWE Network when we drop cable.
Summary: I already had a Roku, earlier model, in use so was predisposed towards buying another one. The HD model has a different menu set up than the XL but that's okay. Sort of keeps one attentive. In any event, I do a lot of movie streaming from amazon and Netflix and find Roku delivers quite nicely. It also has many more channel offerings than its competitors. Get one.
Summary: Everything works well, was a breeze to set up. Definitely worth the money. One thing I wasn't expecting, a credit card is required to make your Roku account. This isn't a problem as long as you can ensure no one accidentally makes purchases on the device.
Summary: Unless you really need the fancy box which most buyers eventually throw away, one should consider Manufacturer refurbished. I've had great success with refurbished electronics. This is Roku is another example. I purchased a refurbished Roku previously via Amazon and love it. I needed another for another room and purchased this one. I'm completely satisfied.
Summary: Had this for three months, no problems whatsoever. Works perfectly, but I was unaware the product lacked a USB port for direct viewing of home-grown images. Not a game changer, I use this as a second box for streaming Netflix and Amazon movies and I LOVE the Flickr channel! Highly recommended if you want to save some $$$ on a Roku box.
