I would not buy another Roku device based on support dropping Roku 2

Summary: First off I live in Canada - more on that below. But to the point - other than cable/satellite offerings, AppleTV is the only other major player that you can rent movies from ... without trying to pretend you are in the US. Secondly, this review does not deal with "picture quality". For a while I have had Netflix and felt to capitalize I need to roll it out to more rooms in the house.
Pros: Supports SD/HDTV; Better remote than XS; Wired NIC
Cons: Flawed WIFI; Cannot adjust DNS; Never will support Netflix Profiles
Summary: Long and short- spring the extra $20 to get the Roku 3. The Roku 2 XS was a good option before they released the 3, but the Roku 3 has an actual dual-band wireless chipset inside, and streams high quality content much more reliably than the 2 XS. And while you're poking around the Roku- take a look at Plex- a fantastic app for streaming content from your computers to your Roku.
Glad I got the refurb, but wish Roku would update their antiquated Netflix GUI. ! The XS is best for overseas buyers.

Summary: I'm really happy that I bought this over a more expensive Roku model, but am now disappointed I didn't go with the Apple TV -- this is all because Roku is falling behind in terms of the Netflix menu. The Netflix sub-menu on Roku is just terrible. Yes, it's fast, but it is soooo outdated compared to the competition.
Summary: Overall I give this unit a neutral rating. The items UI is somewhat quick, but the graphics are crappy and elementary. Also, doesnt hold the saved wifi connection, so every time you disconnect, you need to search for the wifi again. I was using this in my car with iPhones personal hotspot which had a very fast connection, but overall I am going to go with the Apple TV.
Excerpt: The Roku 2XS fails to connect to the Internet in our living room where the HDTV resides. It connects in the basement where the router is located. It also connects in an upstairs bedroom. Laptop connects near the HDTV. So, the conclusion is the Roku requires a stronger WiFi signal than other devices. I'm not impressed with this hidden requirement.
Summary: While the uniit works fine and the software had been reset to new, the outside casing of the roku and remote had some fine scratches on them. not a biggie, but wanted to be sure and mention it because usually when I buy a refurb, the outside of the product is brand new. The item also included 2 USED duracell batteries which were dead. However, despite these short comings, the item performs very well and I am overall satisfied with it.
Summary: When I bought my Roku, I thought I would be able to stream live TV with it. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I can however, stream delayed video clips from some news channels. There are also free movies and some pay movies available, as well as really old TV series for free; too bad for me that they aren't the ones I liked back then either. On the bright side, new channels are being added regularly so I'm thinking it's going to be even better.
Summary: Bought this for my husband for Christmas. Was hesitant to buy this model as others indicated they had problems due to their TV techology. Fortunately our computer savvy son was home to help us install it. Appararently when you begin the installation process the device looks for software updates and begins to install them. Unfortunately there is nothing that appears on your screen to tell you that this is what is going on.
