Maybe yours works--Mine doesn't

JustMeyeOpinion "Silver Smith", Amazon

  • Summary: UPDATE June 6, 2014--I struggled through until last night and finally gave up. This box, for no reason at all, just decides to reset right in the middle of a video, whether it's streaming from Amazon Prime, Netflix or from a USB drive. The reset takes up to five minutes. When it did this last night, I decided enough is enough and ordered the new Amazon Fire TV . Earlier review: I can hardly wait to disconnect this Roku junk and throw it in the garbage.

  • Summary: if you just want to use steaming services like Netflix, there a cheaper options. if you want to access you network drives w\o relying on your pc and 3rd party media streamer, try the wdtv live
  • Pros: box is nice, remote is nice
  • Cons: requires pc and media serving software to be running to stream anything over the network, i tried using the included PlayTV app, and it studdered nonstop on an HD .ts file and was unable to read the audio on mkv files (and video studdered). this was using a wired connection.

NO DNS SETTINGS

Pilecki, Amazon
26 March 2013
  • Summary: Hi everyone, As a Canadian I bought this product for one reason, to watch US Netflix on it. Now for those who don't know, you can change the DNS settings on your computer, or xbox 360, or netflix-capable blueray player and be able to watch US Netflix on it. Pretty cool right? Here in lies the problem with this product.

Must give them you Credit card even if you only want to stream movies

Scott, memoryexpress.com
14 September 2012
  • Summary: To bad this was they type of device that i was looking for. I guess i am out since i am not willing to allow another company to store my credit card information while we wait for them to be hacked like sony.
  • Pros: Small i bought this for the size
  • Cons: You have to create and account and give them your credit card information just to start it up. There is not option to not give them payment information and when you do not you can not even turn it on to use as a media streaming device. Sorry but having to Give another internet company your Credit Card information is crazy.

Small, with no power

  • Summary: Save your money and get a Boxee. It's double the price, but way easier to network into your system. Plus with the Boxee, you can add apps like crazy. Navi-x is the best app I've ever used, and easy to use.
  • Pros: It's really small Uses very little amount of power
  • Cons: Allways on Can't figure out how to play any of my media off of file server No idea what types of files it can play
