Roku Requires too Much Personal Information

  • Summary: I have always liked Roku products and their Netlfix app is the best. However, with new Roku devices, Roku required a credit card when activating. For this reason alone I cannot give this product a good rating.

Frustration

  • Summary: Connecting this product to my wi-fi network was a miserable experience. I have a D-link router and was unable to connect. I spent hours on the phone first with D-Link and then Roku. D-Link was helpful but they could not address the Roku problems.

  • Summary: This little unit works great. Simple to set up and operate. Picks up my wireless signal with no issues (about 40 feet and 3 walls away). I am very please and would recommend this to anyone looking for 1080p HD. Update May 2012: The unit quit streaming in 1080. Now it only streams in 720.

Disappointed

  • Summary: My only issue with roku 2 xd is that it doesn't support 5ghz wireless like the previous ( I thought new meant at least same quality or better ) I now have to select 2.4 ghz which I have reserved for slow wireless devices (printer, iphone, etc) and I'm getting lousy streaming quality.

Not robust

  • Summary: Worked fine for a year; simple and effective. Within days of the expiry of the warranty it stopped working. Roku support did not seem to understand much of anything and only gave rote answers, finally stating that the warranty was up and nothing could be done.
