  • Summary: This worked great for the first 90 days. After that it started having problems but I was willing to get the player to work eventually knowing the "warranty" had passed. Now I have to reset it constantly. Today it stopped working completely. I've only had it for 7 months. Save yourself the aggravation of purchasing a refurbished player. Spend the extra $10-20 and buy a new one because it will stop working and you'll have to fork out another $60-70 for a new one.

Refurbished backfired on me

  • Summary: Straight out of the box, it doesn't respond. Thought it was the remote until I tried the phone app and it told me the Roku wasn't responding. Such is life.

Buyer beware

  • Summary: I was leery of buying a refurbished unit until I saw that it had a warranty. When it didn't work correctly, Roku told me that I would be receiving a replacement in 3 - 7 business days. The confirmation email that they sent me said that I would need to return the old unit at my cost before they would send the replacement. I called and asked if they understood the concept of a warranty.

No picture....again

  • Summary: Not too happy with Roku. This is the second unit I purchased that had issues. This time, no picture or audio. Tried different cable, same issue. Tried a gaming system in same input on TV, no problem. Sending this one back and going to try non-refurbished, direct from manufacturer.

Refurb defective

  • Summary: I purchased this Roku for my husband as a Christmas present. Everything up until connecting the Roku to the TV was awesome but the Roku would not connect via HDMI. A lot of trouble on my side and told no exchange just a refund and to purchase a different unit. Noe I have to unplug the old unit from the other other room and do some shuffling to get it back where we can all enjoy the Roku until I decide what to do next. Getting to be more trouble than it is worth.

Disappointing performance compared to my Apple TV

  • Summary: Apple TV doesn't have the ability to watch Amazon Prime movies, so after my years ago terrible experience with Roku I figured things would be better now. However, paying the same amount for the Roku 3 as for my Apple TV seemed overkill as I'm not very interested in Roku's other channels. I settled for a refurbished (or B-stock as the sticker on the bottom says) Roku 2 XD. I have two 27" 1081 monitors that Sit side by side.

poor wifi slow and drops connection

  • Summary: reboot is very slow and UI does not have reboot or reconnect option so when wifi is dropped it's time to walk over and unplug it and wait... and wait... long enough to write a deserved bad review. while the roku is having trouble with a low definition film, speedtest on my ipad reports consistently 10mbps and up. my wifi router is about 15 feet from the roku. when you sign up they require a credit card even if you don't sign up for pay channels.

Mis-sold product

  • Summary: I also bought the XD product being specified for a 1080 TV receiver. It doesn't work in the UK as it is unable to pick up Netflix. There is no excuse for Amazon UK selling a UK customer a product that doesn't work. I have so far had no satisfactory response from either product support or the supplier. This is not what I expect of Amazon. You should be very wary of buying electronic products from Amazon, who have so far failed to address this issue.
