Summary: I have 2 of these now and have been using them starting about 3 years ago. I don't have broadcast TV service of any sort and use them for all my movie and music playing needs. I've never had a problem with either of my units, and they play every type of digital media I've ever tried.
Summary: I have two of these networked with my desktop computer and I can stream videos any direction to/from my living room, bedroom, or home office. It plays 99% of all the videos I have ever tried on it. The only time it has problems is when the actual video file downloaded from the internet is bad. A quick re-encode with Handbrake can fix most videos within 5 minutes. I love it.
Summary: First of all, super fast delivery (free). Ordered on 4-13-2011, delivered on the 17th (yes, Sunday). Hooked it up to AV receiver through component cables and digital audio (coax). Setup was easy. Make sure to select video output to match your system. Detected NAS immediately. If you want want .iso, subs and chapter support there is an extra step in the network setup - add your shared folder as an NFS server. Then sit down and enjoy. Great sound and picture.
Summary: I love this device! My nephew told me about popcorn hour but I had no idea what he was talking about. I watch a lot of movies by DVD, Blue-ray and Netflix, even streaming through the Netflix app that came on my 52" Sony LED. I had been wondering if there was a way to get the video files from my computer to play on my TV and this is it! The A-200 is great!
Summary: The world is now awash in networked media players! The Popcorn Hour was one of the first popular players, and has always been a bit more expensive than the competition. However the user interface on this is well-developed, reasonable and can be operated by a non-technical person, which is a rarity in this market. It allows you to install an internal hard drive, use an external hard drive (via USB), or stream over the network.
Summary: Let me say right at the outset that the 5 star rating is because it does what I want it to do exceptionally well. It may not do other things as well, but I wouldn't know. These were my requirements: - Stream standard and hi-definition videos in: + A variety of containers + A variety of video codecs + A variety of audio codecs (including the lossless ones) - Have a nice looking and easily usable front end for my movie library.
Summary: The PCH was great right out of the box. It was easy to set up and there were no problems adding it to the network. I'll admit that its not plug and play right out of the box if someone doesn't know what they're doing. It plays anything I throw at it and its great on all levels. It's got many options in settings which is highly customizable. Also, to all the people complaining about the fan, WTH?
Summary: I have the privilege and honor of owning this hardware. I admit that getting it set up and running is a bit on the technical side but in the end is well worth the minor hassle. While other competing hardware is "easier" to set up, they don't feature the amount of customization this unit has to offer such as the YAMJ skins. I have my server on my PC with the myihome software. From there set-up is a bit on the whoa! what do I do here or why isn't this working?
Summary: I purchased this product after trying multiple other media players. This is the only one that reliably plays anything I ask of it, including movies with hi def audio tracks such as dtsma, true HD, etc. The Western Digital couldn't handle those files consistently, nor could it reliably play lossless audio files.
Summary: Quite installed a 2tb WD green HD and just the cpu fan area gets a little warm, much better than the xbox360 I have been useing. any issue with soft ware will get worked out, like any thing like this it takes some time to perfect it.
