Summary: I have bought this item and found that it does not worth it as it keep disconnecting from the Mobile network as well as from WiFi. Every time you start the Philips medial player you need to connect with the WiFi and iPhone App is not connecting easily. Each to one has to pair it with the you tube. I was looking for a device which connect YouTube to my TV via WiF but this device failed to do so.
Summary: DON'T. Mine spends more time showing "Unable to connect to Netflix at this time" or "Sorry we are unable to play this item currently", but my PC and/or laptop connected on the same wireless router have no problems AT ALL on exactly the same item. The vast majority of my AVI files which play with absolutely no problems at all on a Cyclone Micro 2 come up with "Unsupported Video Format" DESPITE having the video in H.264 which is purportedly supported by this device.
Summary: I does not play most of the types of different file formats it should, nor the subtitles... I couldn't even watch .avi files which is unacceptable! Total waste of money... It almost cost me 70euros plus the cables I had to buy, nearly 100euros total cost and I wasn't able to do what I wanted. Meaning, simply watch movies from my hard disk directly to my TV screen... Simple things in other words... I still pity the money I gave away...
Summary: As another reviewer mentions, the only way to control this unit is with a very cheapo looking/feeling remote, it doesn't look durable and is suprisingly poor for a Philips product. Word of warning- no separate audio out, so HDMI audio only, a bad restriction if you have a monitor with no speakers or you want to play mp3s through a hifi without having the tv on all the time.
Summary: First off, it's a neat little unit and is good for playing Netflix through (although it seems to crop the screen slightly). However, I had intended this to play various media types that I have on a USB hard drive. Sadly it plays practically none of them. It plays the odd MKV and some H264 files but absolutely nothing else. If you are planning on using this for playing your existing media library - avoid.
