Obsolete device, see PTV3000 instead.

john guthrie, Amazon
11 July 2014
  • Summary: This is an obsolete device and costs more than the HD PTV 3000 also sold by Amazon. Don't but it, buy the 3000 if you need one.

Happily surprised

Jason H., Newegg
27 November 2013
  • Summary: I was pleasantly surprised by this unit. I'd read of some users having connectivity issues but when I found it on a special deal I couldn't pass it up. it was easy to connect to my tv, easy to set up with the Intel software (even updated the firmware for me), and has worked perfectly so far.
  • Pros: Attractive design, easy setup, works exactly as expected. Beautiful picture with no issues
  • Cons: None so far

update drivers/firmware

Mark F., Newegg
7 August 2013
  • Summary: I had some trouble with this unit when I first got it, sometimes it would disconnect for no reason after about an hour, and then refuse to reconnect until I power cycled the device. I then updated the firmware for the device and my Intel wireless adapter drivers and have had zero problems since.
  • Pros: Good Image, I've never had any audio/video sync issues, minimal setup and the software to use the device is basic and easy to use.
  • Cons: Very occasionally I see artifacts from transmission loss, but its not bad at all.

Wireless is wonderful

Joshua D., Newegg
22 March 2013
  • Summary: After reading other reviews, I was prepared for an all-nighter on the driver issues but it really didn't take that long. WiDi latest (3.5) did not work for me. says incompatible hardware (Clevo W370ET with core I7 and Intel 2230 wireless card).
  • Pros: Functions just as needed. Have not run any FPS but for videos and internet, lag is minimal (maybe 0.25 seconds), sends 5.1 audio to my receiver (Marantz)
  • Cons: it does have a 0.25s lag. probably not the best for gaming but works for everything else. does get a bit warm if it runs for a long time. drivers can be a pain determining if you installed in the proper order and such. Latest Intel Wireless drivers (15.6) specifically addresses these issues. dete...

Works great ... after hard and challenging initial setup!

KHAC L., Newegg
20 March 2013
  • Pros: Truly HD - Simple to use, they even include a HDMI cable! The manuals are not helpfull, eg, instead of saying 'push on the RESET button', I spent 15 minutes looking for the button in the instructed sentence 'push 5 seconds on the button in the side'! This tiny reset button is located underneath!
  • Cons: None!

Great....Once Setup

Lee S., Newegg
8 February 2013
  • Summary: I had to contact Netgear day-1 after not being able to get a connection to work....and I have been a techie for years. I had no problem associating the ptv2000 with my laptop....it just would not stay connected.
  • Pros: Great picture and sound quality.
  • Cons: Setup was challenging on my W8 x64 HP DV7 Laptop.

Works great.

Daniel M., Newegg
1 October 2012
  • Summary: The real issue using this device is updating drivers and software on the computer. Once everything is updated and installed, the device connects easily and works fine. But be prepared, figuring out the updates and software took all evening. This, however, cannot be blamed on the device.
  • Pros: The adapter setup itself is easy and the device works great. Once connected, updating the firmware was easy as well.
  • Cons: None.

Works, and works well

Ryan Ellis, Amazon
31 July 2012
  • Summary: Few times you buy something, plug it in and it just works. This did the trick. I have a Samsung Slate 7 tablet I use at work and it has WiDi on it. Thought I would grab this item so I could stream my TV from home to my Slate, then display the Slate on my work TV.
